On this Labor Day let us remember whose shoulders and backs our nation is built upon. "Give us your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
Contrary to current rhetoric, the "job creators" are not our salvation, not our golden calves. Yes, they have a role, but the hands that carried shovels and pick axes and mops and brooms and wrenches and plates of food built this great nation and they deserve our eternal gratitude.
