One of my photos chosen for a Jones Soda bottle label (Pure Sugar Cane Root Beer)

I took some pictures of the moon and labelled them to help myself learn some lunar geography. This is one of the results. Neil Armstrong landed in the Sea of Tranquility. The curvy part to the top-left is a mountain range.

This was an interesting label I found in a 50s wardrobe while I was browsing in a second hand furniture shop in Brighton. Funny that the wardrobe had tiny little labels for all of its shelves. BTW: It was a men's wardrobe.

War Times - Handstamps used in Foreign Exchange Control

 

In December 1939 the Foreign Exchange Control Censorship was established and run by the Frontier Post Office

officials. In January 1941 the Foreign Exchange Control Board formally requested an examination of all mail to and from the United States of America. This was reported to have been carried out by Post Office officials at 21 offices of

exchange adjacent to the U. S. frontier.

 

The Provinces postal censorship was under the control of local District Directors of the Post Office - In Nova Scotia it was at Halifax (F4)

 

Cover cancelled with a F4 - District Director of Postal Services / MAY 26 1941 / HALIFAX, N. S. - double ring handstamp - violet ink

 

This cover has a Canadian censor label on the back - EXAMINED BY / C. 103 along with a GOD BLESS AMERICA label.

Busteed Order Following the Confederate Raid on Williamsburg,

29 March 1863

 

The raid on Williamsburg by Confederate troops, 29 March 1863, resulted in

an order by Brigadier-General Richard Busteed, stating that the “attack was aided, if not planned, by citizens of Williamsburg and carried to a successful end by them . . .” and giving the punishment for the citizens. The order was countermanded the next day by Major-General John A. Dix.
