Every fall at Oberlin, Lab Crawl shines a spotlight on research happening all over campus: across the sciences, but also in the humanities, the arts, the conservatory, and elsewhere.

Een nieuw, stoer, driehoekig, stalen element, bestaande uit een verbindingsbrug en een dakterras, verbindt de twee gebouwdelen van deze voormalige praktijkschool met elkaar. De nieuwe toevoegingen en ingrepen verlenen het complex een nieuw imago. De verandering van schoolgebouw tot bedrijfsverzamelgebouw voor de creatieve- en producerende sector wordt direct duidelijk. Door deze toevoeging ontstaat een intern circuit in de beide gebouwdelen, dat uitnodigt tot ontmoeting. In de uitwerking van de door AAARCHITECTEN gewonnen prijsvraag, wordt de hoofdentree van de zijgevel naar de kop van het gebouw verplaatst. Deze nieuwe entree is door de prominente positie bij aankomst direct zichtbaar en staat in verbinding met de achterliggende foyer. Door gaten te zagen in de eerste verdiepingsvloer krijgt de foyer een monumentale ruimtelijkheid.
