I recently plugged in an old hard drive to take a look back at past photos. I found this raw image from 2009 not touched and edited it. I remember taking this photo at the LaCrosse River Marsh in WI. I also remember the exact spot and tree. The tree had been laying in the water for years. On this day I climbed across the tree out over the water to shoot this young Green Heron. He did not seem to mind that I was there. Back then had a Canon XSi (my first SLR) with a 70-300mm lens, not even L glass. At this point I had only had my SLR for 10 months. It took way less then that to fall in love with nature and wildlife.

I had a wonderful time at the march this evening as I saw my first Great Blue Heron of the year. Staying late paid off as this beauty fished while the sun sets in the background.

I took this photo at the LaCrosse River Marsh in LaCrosse, WI. The water level is pretty low right now so some shorebirds have been visiting that are usually not seen in this particular area. These birds have been a pleasant sight along with some Greater Yellowlegs and Lesser Yellowlegs.

A CN haulage train on the BN at LaCrosse, WI features a pair of EMD SD60F's and a pair of GE Dash 8-40CM's back in June 1994. Some harsh high noon sun didn't help matters.
