New Bus For London LT3 visited Singapore, on display and posing Marina Bay Sands (Gardens by the Bay)~
Finally after seening photos of this repainted NRM, LT2. Today 27-09-14 at Eureka in Halifax the bus was on display for the public to have a look.
LT2 was the first of the NRM to be placed into service on the 38 in Feb 2012. After several months in service, the bus along with LT1 and LT3, was sent on a world tour.
Meanwhile the 9, 10, 11, 24, 38, 148, 390 and 453 would gain the NRM in full service in London. 32 vehicles were painted into an overall black livery for Adidas, during the 2014 world cup.
TfL Johnston typeface white traditional blinds are used in the destination screens.
In June 2014, LT2 was spotted in the yard of Bus&Coach world Blackburn. It had returned to the UK, after time abroad.
During the early part of 2014 First West Yorkshire announced that they would purchase the NRM. This was to combat the proposed New Generation Trolleybus scheme, with around 200 NRM vehicles in service by 2017. Some three years before the NGT was even finished being built.
For a six month period LT2 with have been use for consultation and evaluation in service. It is the intention of First to use LT2 in service, probably along the Headingley corridor, where the NGT will operate.
LT2 is depicted departing the Eureka site before returning to Skircoat Coat Depot.

Seen on route 88, very much towards the end of it's career. LTs came as single and double deckers. Some of the latter had outside staircases. This was one of the inside staircase buses. It would have shared this route with Daimler buses.

Fitted with diesel, but not sure if from new. The longer diesel engine would account for the protruding radiator.

Nu we zo het midden van de zomer naderen is het wel leuk om eens af te wisselen met een vakantie foto. Of is het nu een historische foto? Wie zal het zeggen...
Locomotora n°3 passeert hier onder een praktisch gesloten hemel over het viaduct del Cinq ponts in de richting van Sóller. Een enkel zonnegat bevond zich net boven het viaduct. De vijf bogen heb ik zo goed als ik kon in beeld proberen te brengen. Tot spijt van wie het benijdt zijn er maar 4 goed zichtbaar... Ook de tunnel waar de trein juist uit is komen te rijden is nog net zichtbaar.
Deze spoorlijn heeft een breedte van 900mm en verbindt de hoofdstad Palma de Mallorca met Sóller. Deze rit duurt ongeveer 1 uur en doorkruist het Sierra de Tramuntana alsook een deel van het binnen(ei)land. Door het stijgingspercentage dat schommelt om en bij de 3% dient er gedurende de afdaling constant afgeremd te worden. Vanuit zijaanzicht een angstaanjagend hoogteverschil! De bestuurder is hier dan ook niet aan het zwaaien maar aan het afremmen. Een lastige bezigheid lijkt me zo'n 20 minuten met een arm in de lucht...
Wanneer de tegentrein al klimmend de tunnel is ingereden was het wachten geblazen op deze. De 2 treinen kruisen elkaar iets verderop. Daarna weerklinkt opnieuw een gedender in de bergen. En even later dient de trein zich aan. Het geluid is echt hemels, zelfs zo dat ik me begon voor te stellen hoe het zou geweest zij moesten hier diesels rijden!
Nogmaals lt3 met historische 6/9 rijtuigen en een uitzicht op het dal van Sóller dat tevens de bestemming is en wordt bereikt in nog geen 15 minuten.

Launched at the 1948 London Motor Show as a Roadstrer as a show car, with public reaction encouraging William Lyons to put it in production for 1949. With the first customer car delivered to Clark Gable.
The first 242 were handbuilt with aluminium bodies and ash frames, but to meet demand the mass produced cars that followed had pressed steel bodies, but retained the aluminium doors, bonnet and boot lid.
Powered by a 3.4 litre straight six XK engine With alloy cylinder head and twin side-draft SU carburetors, the dual overhead-cam With alloy cylinder head and twin side-draft SU carburetors, the dual overhead-cam it developed 160 bhp.

846 YUY is a recreation of works XK120s built for the 1951 Le Mans 24-Hour. William Lyons was doubtful that the new Jaguar C Type would be ready for race and ordered that three special XK120s should be built and race prepared as an insurance policy. The cars had lightweight alloy bodies and a subtly altered shape: outer sills and cut-down doors, one piece rear, cut-in bonnet, aero screens, etc. Numbered 'LT1', 'LT2' and 'LT3', they never raced at Le Mans as the C-Types were ready in time. Subsequently two of the car were shipped to the USA where Phil Hill drove one in its first race in August 1951 to 3rd place overall and a class win..
Chassis number '679035' (846 YUY) was manufactured on 15th August 1951 as a left-hand drive export model and dispatched to Hornburg in Beverly Hills, California. The car was re-imported from USA in 1991 and began a very long term restoration lasting until 2012. . The new owner wanted to create a competitive racecar for the XK Challenge series and instructed historic cars and racing expert Chris Keith Lucas from CKL developments to construct a tool room copy of the alloy-bodied 'LT2' Le Mans cars body expert RS Panels to faithfully recreate the one-piece aluminum body, which was then mounted by CKL on the chassis.The XK120 was then taken to Sigma Engineering, Peter Lander race engine specialist to fit a new race engine together with triple 2 inch
SU carburetors, high compression cylinder head, thick '3.8' steel block, steel crankshaft, steel race con-rods, forged pistons, lightened flywheel, triple-plate competition clutch, hydraulic release bearing, and anodized billet aluminum cylinders. Power is transmitted via a brand new Denis Welch Motorsport four-speed all-synchro 4.2 E-Type strait- cut close ratio gearbox. The steering has been converted to Rack and Pinion. Alloy XK140 radiator and oil cooling radiator. A limited slip differential. Full Sparco / Corbeau – type modern safety racing seat for driver, trimmed to match passenger's competition XK120 seat to original pattern. Removable ballast up to min weight 1325 kg is fitted but can easily be removed to bring weight to around 1000 kg. finally new öhlins dampers for competition. Full race harnesses, removable roll cage, ignition cut-off switch and a fire extinguisher. Foam-filled alloy tank in original position, and connected to 'Aston'- type filler cap. before being re-registered with a date related number.

A sort of change-over period. The NS class started life as solid tyre open top buses, but progressed over the years to be a lot more advanced. I understand that NS may have meant “No Step”, as the chassis that molded over the back wheel axle allowed the bus body to be mounted lower on to ground. Previous bus chassis being very much like lorry types. More passenger friendly.
