Aldenham spectacular, Sep 1983. Accident damaged RM840 outside Aldenham works. Despite its sorry state it was overhauled and returned to service for a further 3 years..
I went for a walk this afternoon at the nearby Lt Cantello reserve. I have long admired the intentional camera movement tree images you see on the net. This is my first try. I thought I'd present it as a triptych. This is essentially the base of the tree, further up the trunk and the higher up foliage levels of the same grouping of trees.
Lt Cantello was piloting a P-39 airocobra in the middle of the night. He took off in search of the Japanese sub that shelled Maroubra and crashed at Hammondville which is why the park is named in his honour:

I was in south east London on 29 October 1981 to capture images relevant to the upcoming closure of Abbey Wood and the old Plumstead garages. But at Lewisham bus station I caught D 1142 on the 151`s which was of interest prior to being replaced by the 291 route. Am I right in thinking that the 151 was the last new route to be RT operated? And is that a 4 SUB unit in the background?
A location that I knew well a few years before this picture was taken on 26 October 1981. It`s High Cross close to Tottenham Garage and this bus stop was the crew changeover point for southbound 243`s.
My guess is that RML 2267 is awaiting a crew who are probably about to commence the second half of their shift but have come off their previous bus late and thus wouldn`t be able to take over on time. Late, but not so late as to justify the bus being taken into the garage around the corner. It`s probably been on the stop for a while as RM 1814 doesn`t look as if it`s just picked up the passengers from RML 2267. Where will it go next? Maybe spun around the one way system to recommence service heading towards the City or perhaps it will run on to Wood Green and then be curtailed on the next trip as I don`t recall Bruce Grove ever being used as a turning point for late running southbound 243`s during my time at Tottenham Garage.
