This inseparable trio will go on to change Chiss history for the rest of time, though.. they don't know it yet
The death of Admiral Thrawn shook the Ascendancy to its very core. Since his return in 6 ABY, he had set about engaging the relentless attacks by the ever-resurrecting Grysk forces with the help of Mid Commander Eli Vanto and their allies within the Ascendancy.
With his successful mission to acquire the fabled lost Star Dreadnought Eclipse, it seemed as if peace in their time could yet be achieved. Thrawn was a cautious and careful man, never believing that the threat of the Grysk could ever truly be extinguished, but as the years passed and the people spoke out against the war, the Syndicure began looking for a distraction.
In 13 ABY, at the decisive Battle of Sarvchi Sound, Admiral Raw'nuruodo and Mid Commander Vanto made the gallant sacrifice to utterly decimate the Grysk Combined Fleet, at the cost of their own lives. The decision was agreed upon, and only those few, most resolute officers refused the call to abandon ship.
To all who heard of the battle, it seemed as if the war had finally been won. What had become a dividing force in the country now brought them together in both celebration and mourning. The syndicure transformed public opinion overnight, enshrining the posthumously promoted Supreme Admiral Raw'nuruodo forever in the Shrine of the Glorious War Dead.
He— who in life was a force for greater change and goodness, opposed to needless violence and bloodshed— was made a tool of nationalist propaganda in death. He was something that brought the Chiss people together, gave them pride— and those in power knew how to wield his memory to keep them appeased.
But would the façade stand the test of time?
We'll have to see.
