Gotta love British bulldogs!

This is not my homeplace, this is Oldedalen in Nordfjord on the way to Briksdalsbreen. It is 1hour 15minutes north of here. We were on our way to a one night vacation in Ålesund with my mother.

The plan was to use the lovely weather to do a little sightseeing on places close to the route to Ålesund, before spending the evening in town, and then returning the next day.

My mother Maria is born in 1940, and has a few problems after she got cancer in her ear in 2000. The surgery gave her much the same problems as a stroke would have. She is deaf on one ear, paralized on one side of her face, has poor balance, struggle with noise as it can give her a terrible migraine for days and the radiation took away much sense of taste.

Still she keep fit, loves to be grandma, and live in the house she and my father shared. She lives at Voss where I grew up, so it is nice to be able to spend a little fun time together.

She also love Britain, as Mette and I do. She worked two years as a Salvation Army offiser at an orphanage in Bristol, England, before she married, and have loved everything about the nation since! She has been back several times after she retired.

There are more of my holiday snaps (and some from Mette) in the first comment.

Love Britain </3

Goes to the model my sis RAHAF :D ، :**

Week nineteen...I do love Britain in the Spring...at least our rain is good for something!

I love British egg custard tarts but it wasn't until I visited Portugal many years ago that I found these little delights - Pastel De Nata. During our stay, I ate at least one every day. Roll on a few years and they started to appear in the UK (thanks to Nando's I think - lol) and now they are in every supermarket - yeah!

Don't you just love British Summertime.......

I love visiting Gold Hill Shaftesbury Dorset, where the Hovis Advert was filmed. Whenever I'm there the tune instantly goes through my mind. June 2017

I love british sense of humour :)

Sid’s Cafe in the pretty town of Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, is the very famous cafe that’s featured in the longest running and much loved British sitcom “Last of the Summer Wine”, which was written by Roy Clarke and ran from 1973 to 2010.

I love how light it is in the evenings now, because our clocks are set to British Summertime - yay for golden hours that are actually 120 minutes!

It's Friday at last and in the UK today it is also Comic Relief day. Also known as Red Nose Day, it originated in 1985 with the simple idea of a whole bunch of much-loved British comedians getting together and making the public laugh while they raised money to help people in desperate need. My pic today is a tribute to a Two Ronnies sketch which is an absolute classic and always makes me laugh when I watch it.....as they say...the old ones are always the best!! Hope your Friday is fun!

I love Britain's Ordnance Survey maps. This is a section of Sheet 130 (Kidderminster) published in 1954 following full revision in 1949. It's style is instantly recognisable, remaining in use today. However, there are subtle changes e.g. tracks shown as dotted black lines with no indication of their right of way status such as "footpath" or "bridleway". When compared to the up-to-date OS map, Bewdley like most small towns has seen expansion but is still very recognisable. The rail lines to the north and east still exist as the Severn Valley Railway, one of Britain's many and successful steam railways. Sadly the line to the south and the Tenbury and Bewdley Railway to the west both fell victim to mass government rail closures in the early 1960's under the infamous Beeching Axe. Wyre Forest is still more or less as it was but is now used as much for recreation as for timber.

Farne Islands, Northumberland

One from the archives .... My six year old daughter Alba is showing a keen interest in art & photography and next week we are heading to the Farne Islands for her first 'proper shoot' .... She can't wait and demands reguarly to see pics of puffins... It's like waiting for puffin Christmas! I'm not sure how she will react when an Arctic Tern dive bombs her (like the one below) but we'll cross that bridge when it comes! First the weather has to hold out - we had 3 failed attempts to cross to the Isands last year due to rain and rough seas in June and July - gotta love British weather!!

Populations of much-loved British mammals, including Hedgehogs and Water Voles, have dropped by up to two-thirds over the past 20 years, and many more are threatened with imminent extinction. This hungry hedgehog was seen foraging for food in the garden just after midday; it should be feeding at night.

Thanks for your visit… Any comment you make on my photograph is greatly appreciated and encouraging! But please do not use this image without permission.

You've got to love British weather.

Another view of Somerset House. Hooray for the weekend!

2. I lived in the suburbs of Atlanta until I was 10. Now I live out in the country and absolutely love it.

3. I adore the south. People really are friendlier here. And the food is amazing.

5. My taste in names has changed a lot since then, though. I love Thea Elizabeth and Henry Ezra.

6. I LOVE Jane Austen. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite. I love collecting books with different covers, I’m currently lusting over this one and this one.

explore!

In the 1800s, British postmen used to have bright red uniforms. They wore red in honour of the crown as red is considered both a Royal colour and an important colour on our English flag ( this may be one of the reasons why British post boxes were eventually standardised to be red). The postmen in their red-breasted coats resembled our now national bird and much-loved British robin red-breast. Victorian postmen were nicknamed "Robins".

We continued to walk towards our hotel, taking in all the sights and were pleased to see these doodles!

"Much-loved British artist Mr Doodle, who describes his style as “graffiti spaghetti”, has transformed 12 concrete blocks in Wembley Park’s Market Square and around the neighbourhood into a spectacular street art installation. Look closely and admire a triumph of idiosyncratic characters, inspired by iconic Wembley moments, from music events to football triumphs, all hand-drawn into an elaborate pattern by the doodle man himself." Wotsits are a much loved British brand of corn snacks : orange coloured and cheese flavoured!

The National Gallery in London.

I love British Hedgerows, such a wonderful old art form and great haven for wildlife

I got the idea for the title from this video that my friend Denise sent me the link to, because she knows that I love British humor. It is laugh-out-loud funny. I've watched it about a dozen times and it still cracks me up.
