Spotted this Lotus seed pod that has matured to the point it looks ready to drop the seeds it is holding. It's interesting to see how much those seeds vary in size, and that one is already missing.
Not sure how they are deposited? A gust of wind, a bird who drops it, or it wilts as it ages and they just fall out? Regardless, hopefully at least one gets planted, and next year we'll be able to see and enjoy a beautiful Lotus blossom growing at the edge of the Lotus Pond.

Famous "Lotus" temple in India. Since its inauguration to public worship in December 1986, the Bahá'í House of Worship in Delhi has, as of late 2002, attracted more than 50 million visitors, making it one of the most visited buildings in the world. Its numbers of visitors during those years surpassed those of the Eiffel Tower and the Taj Mahal. - Wikipedia

It is said that an English lotus is a concept containing a lotus and a water lily. The lotus stretched the root in mud, from the attribute of making a flower bloom on the water surface, hid the power of the ground on the body, and was regarded as sacred as a flower showing fertile and a vitality. It is treated also as a symbol of Kimiko who is not smeared with the dirt of world in China. It is said that those who eat the fruit of LOTOS (lotus) live in the place said to "Odyssey" of Greek mythology as RIBYUA, and the followers of Odysseus which went there have the talk ... which eats and dreams of the fruit and has become unconcious. Moreover, from the habit of opening in the morning and closing night, it is identified with the sun and came to think as the world itself in which it changes and the Buddha lives on a Buddhism community.

The Lotus Eleven is a sports racing car built in various versions by Lotus from 1956 until 1958. In total, about 270 Elevens of all versions were built. The Eleven was designed by Colin Chapman and fitted with a sleek body designed by aerodynamicist Frank Costin. Despite the wide variety of engines installed, the car was primarily designed to compete in the 1100 cc class where it was one of the most successful cars during the mid- to late-1950s
I was very happy this morning to see the new lotus flowers coming up.
I believe in about a week, the lakes around will be full of them.
For the Through the Lens week 9 theme of Patterns are the beautiful centres of the Lotus Flowers at the Blue Lotus Watergardens. When dry these remain the centre seed head and drop the surrounding stamens. With friends on a hot day. I have had quite a few trips recently to some of Melbourne's lovely gardens recently. But that is about to change in a couple of days time.

This is the 'Lotus Gate' at the City Palace in Jaipur. In the inner courtyard, there are four small gates that are adorned with themes representing the four seasons. The gates are the Peacock Gate (with motifs of peacocks on the doorway) representing autumn; the Lotus Gate (with continual flower and petal pattern) suggestive of summer season; the Green Gate, also called the Leheriya (meaning: "waves") gate, in green colour suggestive of spring, and lastly, the Rose Gate with repeated flower pattern representing winter season.
I'm back people. Missed you all and of course your wonderful pix too! :o)
This lotus was from the wedding I attended. These small inner petals; to me, are very cute.
Friends…
Thank you for taking time to visit my photostream. All your visits & comments mean so much to me. My new hobby @ Flickr.com had brought to me many friends who have common interest.
However, I’m sorry to say “no invite please”. With full-time job & family, I cannot spend too much of my time on internet. I’m sure you’ll understand.
