On National Trust Land, this imposing and isolated lodge is available to rent out. Fabulous views but I'm not so sure about being there at night.
Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. All comments and Faves are very much appreciated
Hocking Hills lodge rented by my kids for the 16 of us (4 daughters with husbands and 6 grandchildren) to celebrate a family event.
From a pre-work wander, Lodge Plantation is an area of woodland situated in the middle of an industrial & office estate at Manor Park, Runcorn / Daresbury.
This is a very old norwegian fishing lodge wich i found on my way home near a lomsome lake. She stands really crocked near the shore of a lake with crystal clear water.
The cottag is definitly not photoshopped :-) it is like it is.
I doubt there is time for a beaver to reflect on anything--so much to do: repair the dam, build it higher, store food for winter, enlarge the lodge, gnaw down some aspens, trim the branches, drag the stem to the pond.
A beaver lodge has an underwater entrance, a trick that evolved many thousands of years ago to exclude wolves, coyotes, mountain lions, bobcats and lynx.

Back to the reeds at Lodge Park Lake. It was a bit blowy for this and shortly afterwards it decided to start raining, but I am quite pleased with this image considering.
Located in a forest and next to a lake in Mitgardia lies Larkspur. It thanks its name to the abundance of flowers in the area, mainly larkspur. Here Mitgardian noblemen can relax to the fullest. A nice swim in the water or go fishing. Of course a hunting trip is even more fun, poaching rabbits, shooting deer, or if you like danger, hunting bears!
When coming to the gates you can enter the main building through the kitchen. Here the smell of fresh bread welcomes the guests. Going upstairs it takes you to the main hall, where you can discuss politic matters, have a nice dinner or just relax with a pint near the fireplace. Need some rest, take the stairs to the master bedroom. If you need some other kind of rest, you can visit the shrine. To fully enjoy the view, take all the stairs to the top of the tower and enjoy the beauty of Mitgardia in summer.
Above the stables are the sleeping quarters of personnel, there's also a small jail and a weapons room in case the lodge needs to function as a fortress. Larkspur, you never want to leave this place!
Moments before sunrise at Cradle Mt Lodge, Tasmania. Snow had just freshly fallen overnight and more was just minutes away.

NS 935, a surprise continuous-welded-rail train, pulls into the Lodge siding. Earlier, back in Goembel, I'd been waiting for D36, but 935 surprised me out of nowhere and made for a surprise chase. With the Lodge elevator gone, I opted to try something on the wider side of things as golden hour started to hit full swing, but it's still never the same.
We had visited the Danby Lodge National Park Centre in Yorkshire to see the Joe Cornish & Simon Baxter Exhibition (gorgeous) and were enjoying a sit down and refreshments outside afterwards to find that the garden and surrounding hedge was filled with wild birds, very photogenic wild birds. 😉
And here are are some scenes I captured with my previous generation cell phone ... a Samsung Galaxy Note 9.
This is our little "Cabin in the Woods" (known as "StarGazer Lodge") at Lakes of the North.
We made it across the beaver dam and paddled to the mound of sticks that housed at least three beavers in this small bay along the St. Lawrence River. The sun was setting through clouds and created some impressive lighting along shore illuminating red dogwood stems. Best viewed large for detail of the lodge.
Timberline Lodge is a mountain lodge on the south side of Mount Hood in Clackamas County, Oregon. Constructed from 1936 to 1938 by the Works Progress Administration, it was built and furnished by local artisans during the Great Depression. Timberline Lodge was dedicated September 28, 1937, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It is notable in film for serving as the exterior of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining.

Naniboujou is located a few miles north of Grand Marais, Minnesota on route 61 in arrowhead country. The style is Cree Indian design, painted as original in 1929, the year the lodge was built.

Just one mainline survives in Deer Lodge, Montana. BNSF's Garrison interchange train throttles up on the final leg to the MRL, crossing Milwaukee Ave. I am sure most folks driving through town these days don't even know why it is called that. The ties in the foreground, and depot out of sight to the right may give some clues.
With the Trans Pennine Upgrade progressing, some lineside clearance is happening. At Heaton Lodge the view from 20 years ago has opened up as 66767 is working 6E09, the 07:26 Liverpool - Drax biomass.
Something about "Motor Lodge" sounds a little fancier than "motel". Just like how "Tourist Court" sounds more "vacationy".
Doesn't matter though. The Princeton is in a landfill now. Sometime around 2011, the gas station next to it turned into a truck stop, and they flattened it for the diesel pumps. Everything gone, including their huge highway sign.
Shame, cause the place looked pretty decent when I photographed it.
