Light in more ways than one, this sole loco was heading back to Hamilton at just the right time to catch the sunrise. The photo has a nice sunlit warmth to it, but actually it was frosty cold!
Taken during the evening of 09.10.2009 while the locos were being housed overnight during the Autumn steam gala.
One of nightime maintenance gang receives instruction from the Foreman on what needs doing to get the loco ready for its next duties.
The loco gets a thorough going over and brush up before moving over to the sidings to pick up its wagons.
The horrible Sodium vapour lighting around the area throws an orange cast over everything and the low overcast cloudy sky just makes it worse!

Some of the smaller locos are being shifted and rearranged ready for the maintenance gangs to start preparing them for thier next service duties.
I was watching a video on photography where the topic was sharpness. The history of why it became important was discussed while the notion of an artistic form was also debated. This image is a little bit of both in respect to this topic and that informative episode.
While the rocks are tack sharp, we see movement in the ducks that just refused to sit still. Always on the move; do they add or detract from the artistic nature of the final product?

In un'ottica di collaborazione tra CFI e DB Cargo Italia, nelle ultime settimane due E494 dell'ultima fornitura sono entrate in turno sui convogli dell'impresa italo-tedesca, mentre due E483 (versione F) hanno fatto il percorso inverso; qui vediamo la E494-213 in transito presso Carimate (CO), impegnata con il Chiasso Sm.to - Casalpusterlengo.
