Nokiidaa Trail - Newmarket, Canada - October 2020

I seem to be in a rut of local sunset views at the moment! This is the view from the locks by The Mill at Condor Green looking due West towards Glasson Dock.

I had a plan to get this shot a little earlier in the Year when the setting sun is fully aligned with the canal, but the weather never seemed to play ball! So thats a plan that will have to wait.

Anyway, this is a branch of the Lancaster Canal that gives access to the Sea at the small Port of Glasson. I like the small copse of Beech trees by the White House on the left, but wasn't too sure about the lady dog walker heading through the Car Park on the right! However, I decided to let her remain in shot!

Lock Gate and canal pond at Fourteen Locks Canal Centre is located at the top of a unique flight of 14 locks, the Cefn Flight of Locks, an engineering wonder of the Industrial Revolution, rising 160 feet in just half a mile.

Litter? Vandalism? or Love?

In Melbourne, Austrailia, approximately 22,000 love locks were reported to have been fixed to the Southgate Footbridge.

Today has been rough. Damon Locks is amazing, though, and has really promoted Black Culture in the Arts in Chicago. If you celebrate Juneteenth, he's a great human to listen to and relish in (today and every day!). A creative and genuine soul who is the head of the Black Monument Ensemble. Seeing him recently at Bric a Brac was like being caught in a weird and wondrous time space continuum. He creates some amazing visual arts too! Basically, an incredible human to cherish! Chicago is lucky to hold him so dear!

The triple-step Gatun Locks on the Panama Canal near Colón, Panama, lift ships 25.9 meters from the Atlantic Ocean to Gatun Lake.

Foxton Locks are on the Grand Union Canal's Leicester Arm, just outside Market Harborough. The two staircases, both comprising five locks, were constructed in 1814. Here we are looking across one of the balancing ponds towards the old lock-keeper's cottage, which is by the top lock. The cottage and the adjacent former stables to the left (the orange brick building) have now been converted into a tea-room.

Crusing along the Grand Canal as the barge Cadhla meanders up to the lock at Herbert Place on an evening private party.

Having been mothballed for the past two years due to the covid pandemic, the Cadhla barge is cruising again during summer 2022, usually weekend evening runs, offering food, drinks & some amazing views at a slower pace.

It was a beautiful afternoon yesterday, so I drove across to Foxton Locks near Market Harborough in south Leicester. These are on the Leicester Arm of the Grand Union Canal, and were completed in 1814. There are two "staircases" each of five locks. In the picture we can see two of the balancing ponds, with the lock-keeper's cottage, far left, at the top of the flight of locks. At this time of year most canal boats are moored in their marinas for the winter and there is little activity on the canals .

Not the same as the last posted shot which was "landscape". I tried this as a portrait layout.
