Tonight's Net Flicks offering Royal Air Force Lockheed Martin Hercules C.5 ZH889 looks somewhat lonely on Brize Norton's Southern ramp

With just a month to go until their withdrawal these 'J' models have been hard at work ever since their introduction in the early 2000s

Most of the RAF fleet survivors have already been sold off and with an earlier Hercules model from the first RAF batch already on the strength of the RAF Museum, I'd assume these remaining workhorses will also be offered for sale

That will leave the RAF with just one type of Tactlical Transport - the Atlas C.1

The Lockheed YF-12, a prototype interceptor derived from the A-12 reconnaissance aircraft, boasted staggering speed, reaching Mach 3.35. Equipped with powerful radar and missile systems, it stood as a pinnacle of Cold War aerospace innovation. The only surviving YF-12 (complete) resides in the USAF Museum, a testament to its historic legacy.

The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, a legendary reconnaissance aircraft, soared at speeds exceeding Mach 3 and altitudes above 85,000 feet. Powered by twin Pratt & Whitney J58 engines, it featured a sleek, titanium airframe designed to withstand extreme temperatures. With a range of over 2,900 miles, the SR-71 set numerous speed and altitude records.

In 1976, it set the world record for the fastest air-breathing manned aircraft, reaching a speed of 2,193.2 mph. Additionally, it achieved the highest altitude record of 85,069 feet in 1974, showcasing its unparalleled capabilities in speed and altitude.

The Lockheed Model 10 Electra is an American twin-engined, all-metal monoplane airliner developed by the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation, which was produced primarily in the 1930s to compete with the Boeing 247 and Douglas DC-2. The type gained considerable fame as one was flown by Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan on their ill-fated around-the-world expedition in 1937.

Lockheed L10A Electra CF-TCA is on display in Canada Aviation and Space Museum Rockcliffe Airport Ottawa. Originally purchased by Trans-Canada Air Lines as their first new aircraft, it was transferred to the RCAF in 1939, with whom it served for most of World War II. After the war it was operated by a number of private owners. It survived into the 1960s when Ann Pellegreno between June 7 and July 10, 1967, flew the aircraft on a round-the-world flight to commemorate Amelia Earhart's last flight in 1937. After being acquired by Air Canada, it was restored in 1968 and donated to the museum

Was a four turboprop airliner, later converted to freighter.

From Wikipedia

The Lockheed Martin (previously Lockheed) KC-130 is a family of the extended-range tanker version of the C-130 Hercules transport aircraft. The KC-130J is the latest variant operated by the United States Marine Corps (USMC), with 48 delivered out of 79 ordered. It replaced older KC-130F, KC-130R, and KC-130T variants for aerial refueling. USMC reserve unit, VMGR-452 operated 12 KC-130T aircraft until May 2021; this was the last USMC reserve unit that operated the legacy KC-130s, completing the Corps' transition to the more advanced Super Hercules.
