Taken at Dyffryn Gardens in the Vale of Glamorgan.
This photo was seen in Explored on 8th October 2015.
So much rain these last few days, I thought I'd delete some photos and came across this (that ended the tidying).
I remember the day well, seeing the sun streaming through the trees was magical.
I haven't seen it so good since ... a reminder to treasure the moment and live in the now.

Happy Tree Tuesday! Take care and stay safe. Thanks for stopping by and for all of your support -- I deeply appreciate it.
More good news on the fire front: most of the ancient redwoods along the Redwood Trail at Big Basin State Park have survived the fire. Some of these trees are more than 2000 years old.

I haven't seen too many damsel or dragonflies this year but came across this one nestled by the side of a lily pond at Green Heights Gardens in Cyprus. HBWE everyone!
The Water Lily symbolizes resurrection in Buddhism and Hinduism because they close at night and reopen in the morning. I was fortunate to attend a Water Lily photoshoot and workshop at the Missouri Botanical Garden. This is my 3rd post from that collection. I will continue to mix in my favorite shots from that photoshoot with my posts here, but if you'd like a sneak peek the entire collection, check out the "Water Lilies of the Missouri Botanical Garden" gallery on my website, michaelsmithphotoart.com/water-lilies-of-the-missouri-bot.... You can also find my site's URL and link in my profile.
4' diameter giant lily pads (Victoria amazonica) at the San Diego Botanic Garden.
Once endangered in the wild, these plants have made a comeback in recent years through the help of botanic gardens around the world. They can reach 10' in diameter and can take 48 hours to fully open.
I just thought the vibrant colors and textures at the height of the day created an interesting image.

The Hall reflected in the beautiful lily pond.
After such a sunny morning today the weather turned cloudy and very muggy! It's the sort of day you feel nature is waiting for something ... that may or may not come - Limbo land ...
Walking the gardens alone on this day I found it still to be a great day..
Lunch at the cafe and a cold beverage set the tone for the "Perfect Day To Be Shooting"

Also known as the Indian blanket flower, I chose the other common name for this wildflower as the title because of what I found for its origin, and the relation San Diego, where I took this image.
According to Skylar Christensen, who referenced the book "Legends and Lore of Texas Wildflowers" by Elizabeth Silverthorne in a blog for natureseed.com on Oct 12, 2013: "An old Mexican legend tells how the firewheel got its unique color. According to the story, firewheel was once an all yellow wildflower in the days of the Aztecs. Women would adorn themselves with the bright yellow flowers, and children would play among them in the meadows. Then Cortez came, spreading death and destruction throughout the land. The bright yellow flower felt pity for the deaths of the inhabitants and caught their blood as it fell. To this day the firewheel remains red with the blood of the Aztecs."
The sports teams of San Diego State University are named the Aztecs. This flower is in a garden near the El Prado end of the Balboa Park Lily Pond.
