Years ago I grew Lilies in my garden. I do not remember which cultivar they were, but they were beautiful.

Photographed in Beaver Creek Valley State Park near Caledonia, Minnesota. Another, more sinister-sounding common name for this wildflower is Adder's Tongue.

Taken at Nagai-Botanical-Garden, Osaka with Canon EOS 6D and Tamron SP AF 180mm F/3.5 Di LD [IF] MACRO.

A wet water lily on a drizzly day, which nicely left fringes of drops on the edges of the petals.

This Lily opened up overnight.

Genus: Nymphaea.

Family: Nymphaeaceae.

Taken at Stellenbosch University Botanical Garden, Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa.

Clivia miniata (Natal lily, bush lily, Kaffir lily) is a species of flowering plant in the genus Clivia of the family Amaryllidaceae, native, growing in woodland habitats in South Africa (Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal provinces) as well as in Swaziland. Given suitable conditions it grows into large clumps and is surprisingly water wise. It is also reportedly naturalized in Mexico. It is a popular plant for shady areas and is commonly seen growing in older established suburbs in most Australian states. It is also popular in New Zealand, Japan, China and southern parts of the USA, particularly California.

It grows to a height of about 45 cm (18 in), and flowers are red, orange or yellow, sometimes with a faint, but very sweet perfume. It is sometimes known in cultivation as "Kaffir lily".

Thanks for visit, comments, faves and awards, have a nice day :)

No, it's my yellow calla lily beginning to flower - but NY feels like Hawaii today - hot and steamy. Thunderstorms will cool things off tonight.
