37. Letters

We went to Nymans (National Trust) today and the house is open, after it has been closed for the last couple of months.

Sholes & Glidden typewriter 1876. Manufactured by Remington, New York.

So the story goes like this:

In the midst of the Hollywood Hills, there is this magnificent home... Sort of opened to the public, sort of not. You aren't supposed to take pictures, but of course, I couldn't help it. The entire semi public property is designed end to end with mosaics and miniature toys cemented in.

It made my heart smile as a little girl to see this place

...

and it still does.

I will be going back soon and attempting to enter sneaking in a camera if I can.

A little web research upon my return only made the Garden of Oz more legendary. Apparently the Great and Wonderful Oz has given all the children who live nearby a key to get inside whenever they please. And the Dali Llama once sent 15 of his monks to bless the garden which features menorahs, statues, and mandalas from all over the world.

This is another shot from Open House London 2015. This is taken in the St. Botolph's Building. This was on the 13th floor if i remember correctly and it is the lift lobby. The building has TWIN lift systems in place - two lifts working independently in the same shaft - quite clever.

Accidental Alphabet

WOOPNUXCGIXXEM

Just back from holiday. Collection of accidental letters found on our journey.

I know I should have tried to spell something with my found letters.

We had plenty of time to look between the heavy rain and blustery wind.

A pile of scrabble letters with A and Z at top and bottom. Reflected on a square mirror to repeat the square tiles.

The dutch mailbox.

The frst mailbos was introduced in the Netherlands around 1850. In the beginning there were about 70 mailboxes and only in the big cities. In the rest of the Netherlands everyone in that time had to go to the postoffice to post a letter. The first mailbox was made of cast iron ans was nicely decorated.I think the mailbox in this picture dates from 1914.

Oude brievenbus in Delfshaven

Todays little batch are offshoots from a personal project that I've chosen not to go with. So instead I chose to use and abuse them and slap about with the effects tools again. I think I'm beginning to get there- just want to try settling on a style I like though! :3
