"And I'll dance with you in Vienna
I'll be wearing a river's disguise
The hyacinth wild on my shoulder,
My mouth on the dew of your thighs ..."
- from 'Take This Waltz' : Leonard Cohen
"Like a bird on the wire,
Like a drunk in some old midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free."

This little Sparrow fledgling was looking so cute. Great to see a busy sparrow family feeding in the garden.

I set out one night
When the tide was low
There were signs in the sky
But I did not know
I'd be caught in the grip
Of an undertow
Ditched on a beach
Where the sea hates to go
With a child in my arms
And a chill in my soul
And my heart the shape
Of a begging bowl
Oh, I set out one night
But I did not know
I'd be caught in the grip
Of an undertow
Ditched on a beach
Where the sea hates to go
With a child in my arms
And a chill in my soul
And my heart the shape
Of a begging bowl

You can hear the boats go by ....
And the sun pours down like honey
On our lady of the harbour"

... there's a piece that was torn from the morning
... and it hangs in the Gallery of Frost ...
was listening to Leonard Cohen while fluffing up images from last January's archives. I know I've listened to this song before but his words really resonated with me yesterday, they were plucking my heartstrings ...
and who shall I say is calling?... series
_____________
_____________
And who by fire, who by water,
who in the sunshine, who in the night time,
who by high ordeal, who by common trial,
who in your merry merry month of may,
who by very slow decay,
and who shall I say is calling?
And who in her lonely slip, who by barbiturate,
who in these realms of love, who by something blunt,
and who by avalanche, who by powder,
who for his greed, who for his hunger,
and who shall I say is calling?
And who by brave assent, who by accident,
who in solitude, who in this mirror,
who by his lady's command, who by his own hand,
who in mortal chains, who in power,
and who shall I say is calling?
(Who By Fire, Leonard Cohen, 1974)

Now in Vienna there's ten pretty women
There's a shoulder where death comes to cry
There's a lobby with nine hundred windows
There's a tree where the doves go to die
There's a piece that was torn from the morning
And it hangs in the Gallery of Frost

“I smile when I'm angry
I cheat and I lie
I do what I have to do
To get by
But I know what is wrong
And I know what is right
And I'd die for the truth
In my secret life
In my secret life”

That was a sad news after my holliday. If even he goes his songs will remain for good.

I love this song and really love the sincerity with which Leonard Cohen sings it. Somehow, when I created this work he and his song came to mind.
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️
Leonard's great tribute to those who do not surrender to oppression, regardless of the cause that originates it and its nature ...

« L’émerveillement que procurent la musique et toutes les autres formes de créations artistiques qui unissent le maintenant, la mémoire et l’avenir, seront toujours une source de réconfort et d’apaisement en temps incertains.» (Patrice d’après une idée de Kent Nagano, Directeur musical, Orchestre symphonique de Montréal)
