Heading for Durand, Michigan from Bay City we find the Central Michigan "Rocket" rolling past the old elevator at Lennon on March 28, 2009.
Wobbling down their right of way at an impressive clip, HESR 702 barks thru rural Lennon, Michigan, not far from Durand. The aging face of the 5086 looks geriatric in nature, but still looks neat in my book!

After his murder on 8 December 1980 John Lennon became a pacifist hero for many young Czechs. An image of Lennon was painted on a wall in a secluded square opposite the French Embassy, along with political graffiti and Beatles lyrics.

Wall opposite French Embassy was covered with graffiti after John Lennon's death in 1980. Police and artists were competing to paint/whitewash until French ambassador intervened and asked that it remain - hooray!

I like this very much. It shows an originality of thought by one of the students in the protest. Whilst most of the slogans scrawled on the walls are (let's put it mildly) derivative - at the level of propaganda - this one student makes a cultural reference that shows an awareness well beyond their years.
