Where the magic happens!

All currently known colors of the hollow 2x4 bricks.

The green ones are rare, the yellow and blue are also a bit rare, but can be bought on BL.

I would love to find a black one(c:

Just small american old red pickup.

An alternative build for set #31133 White Rabbit. I had originally done a sort of rabbit-themed robot/mech, but I wasn't really that happy with it. Then I realised that the parts that are used as the rabbit's feet in the main build would be perfect to create the beautiful fluffy wings of a swan (specifically a Mute Swan), so here we are!

I may do some instructions at some point.

Editor's note: I removed the legs for "swim mode".

These have 7xLEGO and only one stud with a letter.

They are of the same plastic as the Minitalia bricks.

Also the bottom design is the same as tubed Minitalia bricks in all bricks.

Makes you wonder if these were prototype Minitalia bricks....

The pip is on the letter stud, most bricks do not have pat.pend

Inspired by the Series 25 minifigure, and Classic Castle sets. Features somewhat of an interior.

(After)life ain't easy for a skeleton, but the wizard is happy enough in his little hut on the hill. He's got his cauldron, he's got his frog, and he's far enough away from the nearest village that his experiments in technomancy (usually) don't affect anyone else.

Something a bit different for me; I don't usually do buildings, but I had the idea for this a while ago, and if I want to stand any chance of getting back into LEGO as a designer, then I need to push my boundaries and build outside my comfort zone. I think it came out not too bad, and it's certainly an improvement over previous attempts at minifig-scale buildings.

Part of my 2x4 brick collection.

This part became to big for my normal frames, so I had to find a new way to store and display these.

All bricks in this picture are marbled, some VERY nice, others only upon close inspection.

The best par about marbled bricks is how nice they are, but I love seeing how the plastic flows through the brick.

This flow is made visible by the two colors.

Also, notice how modern marbled bricks display only two colors, while slotted often containd many different colors.

This has to do with the manufactoring, now, these color flush bricks come inbetween a color change.

Being wrong, these bricks are discarded.

Slotted bricks were made with loose granulate, much more was spilled.

These granulate (expensive) got sweeped up and was used to make B-quality bricks sold for less than the uni-colored bricks....

Also a lot of trees and bushes were made with this mix of colors, they got painted over anyway.

Even a few baseplates (10x20 brick) have been found in marble.

These are drawers with 48x48 baseplates cut to size.

Optimus Prime enters the LEGO City

(Never thought I’d get to write that!)

This build is very solid, hefty, and impressive in scale and detail. The range of articulation is better than I imagined and the model is incredibly faithful to the G1 Optimus Prime toy from mid-80s and cartoon. (You can watch the original episodes on HasbroPulse’s YT channel- I did while putting this together)

My only problem with this kit is that the leg stickers are upside-down when compared to the OG cartoon. That’s not a knock on the actual design and build, I assume a marketing error.

Simple fix: flip the 2x6 tiles around.

Took some busy shots with other large red mechs for scale. LEGO continues to improve on its mechs’ quality.

If you’ve seen what I post, I focus on LEGO and Hasbro Marvel products. The Transformers line now checks the box for LEGO, Hasbro, and Marvel! Too cool; when do you think the planet Cybertron will enter the MCU? Will Death’s Head show up in a future GotG?

NeoClassic Space popping up in the Monkie Kid theme with Chang’e Moon Cake Factory

With the build-up to the release of the Galaxy Explorer 2022, I’m looking back at a few builds over the past year that harken back to Classic Space- NeoClassic Space

I’m not necessarily the demographic for this kit, but the neon transparent elements and color scheme caught my eye for MOC potential. When viewing it through the lens of a medium-sized spaceship from early ‘90s, I can appreciate the set as a compelling plaything.

The Bunny Mech, while not meant for minifigs, carries two intended bunny-pilots or a resting minifig. The butt of the ship can pop off to reveal either an energy fuel container or storage for valuables (if not just a microwave in a strange place).

The ship has interesting shaping, especially with the legs, and that great large dome element. Escape pod box gets checked. Stud-shooters are there to good effect as well.

The side-base, a moon cake factory, build is simplistic but charismatic and effective. There is a conveyor belt that might not be captured by my photos, which looks really good for the few elements used.

Simple carrot-rocket and hover-control station/Live-stream station are simple but effective small builds to add to the play value/storytelling.

A funny medium-sized kit with some good MOC potential. What do you think?

Once Upon a Snow Mine — While out marking territory a saber-toothed tiger happened upon the scent of bunnies and began tracking them for a much needed meal. Unfortunately (though not for the bunnies), at the same time, some Snow Guardians were on their way to collect gold from their mine, and the tiger decided three humans were a much better meal than the three bunnies.

————

I added this saber-toothed tiger to my collection a few months back and had been wanting to make a small moc with him since then, and when the new Snow Guardian minifig in series 22 was revealed I knew exactly what scene I wanted to build. It was fun working in primarily one color (though very hard on my white slope stock lol). The Pick-a-Brick wall at my local LEGO Store also helped a bunch. I think my favorite part of the build turned out to be the smooth fresh snow on the path leading to the mine, disturbed only by the guardians on one side and bunny tracks on the other.

Unidentified Porcine Object

This is a color only seen in parts from DUPLO.

From l to r: pearl gold / mustard or curry / bright light orange.

I call it mustard yellow, but some others call it curry:

brickset.com/parts/browse/colours/?colour=Curry

It comes in part: 3011pb05

The multiple listings is because people don't know what color to use.

But I believe it also comes in regular yellow.

Be sure to ask for the right color if you want one.

Named after the Eurasian hobby, the Subbuteo is a formidable force in the world of space racing. Light enough to outpace many larger ships, but agile enough to catch smaller rivals in the turns, this is one bird you won't want to race against.

Creation is at the heart of what we do, without it, we might as well be dead. For there would be nothing new, change would be a foreign concept. We would whither, die, rot, and fade into antiquity. Creation is the triumph of order over chaos, sanity over madness, light over darkness, and life over death.

~Gahmaneshu

Initially created for the #Pantheonofelements collab, I took the element of Creation. Gahmaneshu is inspired by Hindu gods, his name is an amalgamation of Brahma, Ganesh, and Vishnu, all major deities in the Hindu pantheon.

AKA, King Matteo

This marks the 4th and final version of my quest to use all 4 color variants of the beaked dragon head Lego produced from the Lego Vikings line, that was used as Matteo's mask.

Bio

After a successful career in piracy, Matteo shaped the trade routes of the world to his favor, and became a wealthy merchant. Here he married a mortal woman and adopted a son. After the inevitable conclusion of their lives, Matteo moved on to one of the most difficult challenges he'd ever face...Politics.

The Crystal Explorer Sub from 1995’s Aquanauts enters the LEGO city!

Another great AquaZone submarine, this time a large yellow sub. The vibrant color scheme pops with yellow on black and blue, highlighted with neon orange space elements and those awesome blue windshields!

I didn’t have this sub as a kid, but this sub takes my favorite aspects of the Deep Sea Predator (#6155) and upscales the playable space. While some of the interior is narrow towards the stern, the amount of storage space is significant.

Prints are great with this set and it includes several chromed elements, which are always welcome.

I’m a huge fan of the helm’s design and ability to stand the minifig captain up properly. Overall, stoked to have this ship in the collection.

What are your thoughts on this ship? Did you have it as a kid?

As always, I really enjoyed getting shots of this and experimenting with LEGO and flight stands. More retro 90’s set to be featured soon

1991’s Aerial Intruder from the Blacktron II fraction enters the LEGO City!

The ‘Big’ ship from a fan favorite (myself decidedly included) sub-theme is actually not all that big compared to the other Space sub-themes’ flagships. This ship checks the majority of my criteria for what made an excellent spaceship play set as a kid!

Great color scheme and cool large transparent elements?

Blacktron 2 has arguably the best + printed large windshield!

Detachable base with usable interior space?

The center of the ship is large when opened and has an aft storage compartment. While tight when loaded with cargo, great when side-builds are deployed

Dropship/Escape Pod?

Two of the best designed simple ships that deploy from the sides, that are also designed to be compatible with the rest of the sub-theme! So simple and genius

And a bonus jetpack element that is classic

Rover?

Two! Yes, super simple, but very standard for the time.

Action features?

The simple rover launch action definitely suffices.

Droid/Robot?

Not for this faction, but I believe that’s because they were outlaws. Correct me if I’m wrong?

Yes, I’m a really big fan of this old spaceship. Any detractors, like having 5 pilot-able options with only two minifigs can be understood with all their buddies they’d have to break from the Space Police II

This Absolute Classic brings me to the conclusion of my look back at some of my favorite LEGO from the ‘90s. I’m sure I’ll do more shoots with these sets in the future, but I’ve got a ton of contemporary sets to showcase for now and a large MOC in progress.

What did you think of this ship? Did you have it? Does it hold up today?

This is one of the small ducks (or sometimes called swans) from early LEGO (1940s?)

This red one also has a little bit of black marble in it.

Two versions were made, a big version and this small version.

Put together you see they are exactly alike, down to the smallest feather.

Very striking is the placement of the feat, this is identical on both forms.

My thoughts are the small one is a prototype used for the bigger one.

There are several known big and small ducks, I know of green, yellow, white and red small ducks (I have these).

Of the larger duck, some beautifull marble ones exist.

A similar piece is the LEGO fish, made from the same material and most likelly from the same era.

These ducks are made of two sides glued together.

Any extra information is always welcome.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————

2023- It may be that this duck was the mother from the story of the Ugly duckling.

A mold with the small ducks was recently found in the LEGO museum in Billund.

And a set with the tiny ducks with this duck in it.

Connecting both mold and story by Hans Christian Anderson together.

I hope this will help in the rebuild process

An alternate build of set #77941 Mighty Dinosaurs (Blue), inspired by the old Prehistoric Power Creator set which featured a Triceratops and a Mammoth.

This is a fun little build, with plenty of flexibility and expression. I guess this is probably more like the kind of thing I should do if I ever want to get back to LEGO!
