Carolina Conscious is a student-led movement with the mission to create a more conscientious college campus by promoting sustainability, both socially and environmentally. Carolina Conscious was founded by five students from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – Deanna MacCormac, Lisa Dunleavy, Asher Lipsitz, Patrick Lowery, and Ben Director. They brand 100% commercially compostable bioplastic cups with messaging that encourages students to get involved in the conversation about sexual assault on campus. Using an inclusive approach, Carolina Conscious cups serve as a reminder for students to be more mindful and truly embody “The Carolina Way” during parties and social events. Carolina Conscious also partners with a local compost collection service to introduce and set up composting routes.
