Having had his interest in aviation sparked by being at the receiving end of B-24s bombing occupied France when he was 7-yr old, René Francillon turned aviation into both his vocation and avocation. Most of his professional career was in the United States, working for major aircraft manufacturers and airport planning/design companies. All along, he kept developing a second career as an aviation historian, an activity that led him to author more than 50 books and 400 articles published in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and elsewhere. Far from “hanging on his spurs,” he plans to remain active as an author well into his eighties.-------PLEASE TAG this image with any information you know about it, so that we can permanently store this data with the original image file in our Digital Asset Management System.--------------SOURCE INSTITUTION: San Diego Air and Space Museum Archive
It's extremely difficult (and often impossible) to integrate the bulky LEGO PF lights or older 9V lights with smaller models. Third party light systems (like Brickstuff) are expensive. So... dirt-cheap LEDs to the rescue! :) We'll see how they go with my X-wing fighter.
The Endor Project, however, stays pure LEGO, purely for the pure peace of pure minds of all the pure purists (including me ;) ).

During Open House Chicago 2018 I stopped by 151 N. Franklin. Although the building is a bland glass skyscraper it does include a relaxing outdoor space including this subtle, color-shifting LED wall.
Whole load of LEDs designed for handheld wafting of broad lines. Nice and bright. Can cut through a 10 stop filter when it's fully charged, and moved slowly, but eats the battery juice.
A view clips of me with various decorative LED's I use on a night out.

The results of a DIY project writing custom code for a Node MCU micro-controller to control addressable LEDs.
Continuing the theme of things that I haven't done in years... this idea dates back to a shoot I did in 2016 that turned out really cool that I was looking at more recently and liked all of the things about it.
The original shoot, I used glowire tape and it was really touch-and-go the whole time because glowire is dim a.f. and now that there's several options for more powerful LED strips that work roughly like glowire, I figured I'd do some engineering. So I found myself telling some models "Oh, yeah, I'm going to do a thing and it'll look kinda like this..." and send them the 2016 photo and then explain that it's also completely different from the 2016 and hope they weren't too weirded out by everything.
Because things have been a bit rough, I'd been thinking about this for months and months and how I'd do it and what I'd do with it and stuff but hadn't been able to actually get motivated enough to do it. What I ended up doing was soldering up two different LED boards on Saturday for a shoot on Sunday.
Thankfully, this particular model was able to pick up on the concept so she'd be able to integrate the LEDs into her posing quite quickly.
Strobist details: There's a TT600 at minimum power to the left, a pinkish gel on a TT600 to the right, both of them triggered with an XProO. I soldered up a board with an Adafruit ESP32 v2 Feather to drive an Adafruit RGBW 4000k LED fake neon strip. And then it's running WLED and I controlled that part via my phone. I still ended up shooting at ISO 3200 and 1/13s shutter.

Ebben az épületben működött a Horn Ede (Einhorn Ignác) által alapított Izraelita Magyarító Egylet.
In this building was founded the first Hungarian Association of Israelites by Ede Horn (Ignatz Einhorn).
About Ede Horn: jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/5484-einhorn-ignatz-eduar...
Ede Horn, Hungarian preacher and political economist; born at Vágh-Ujhely Sept. 25, 1825; died at Budapest Nov. 2, 1875. He was educated at the Talmud schools at Neutra, Presburg, and Prague, and at the University of Budapest. In the last-named city he began his journalistic career, contributing to the "Pester Zeitung," the "Allgemeine Zeitung des Judenthums," and "Der Orient."
In 1847 he began to preach in the temple of the new community of Alt-Ofen, and he also edited the first Judæo-Hungarian year-book. A year later appeared his "Zur Judenfrage in Ungarn," Alt-Ofen, 1848. In April, 1848, he founded at Budapest the weekly "Der Ungarische Israelit," which gave the first impulse toward the formation of the Reform congregation there. Einhorn became the first preacher of this new congregation.
In religion as in politics Einhorn was a decided liberal. He took part in the Hungarian struggle for liberty, first as a revolutionary speaker at Budapest, and then as an army chaplain at Komorn, a position to which he had been appointed by General Klapka. After the capitulation of Vilagos he returned home; but not feeling secure there, he went to Vienna and then to Prague. Still pursued by the police, he finally went to Leipsic (March, 1850), where he remained for two years. There he published under the pseudonym of "Eduard Horn".
Among others he wrote in 1851 "Die Revolution und die Juden in Ungarn." His "Ludwig Kossuth" (1851), which was immediately confiscated and led to the publisher's imprisonment for two years, again directed the attention of the Austrian police to Einhorn. To escape extradition to Austria and consequent imprisonment, he went to Brussels, and thence, destitute of all resources, to Amsterdam.
Returning to Brussels, he devoted himself to the study of the French and English languages.
At the time of the Paris Exposition of 1856 he went to the French capital as correspondent of several German periodicals. There Michel Chevalier secured him for the "Journal des Débats." In 1863 he became one of the founders of "L'Avenir National." From Paris he directed a persistent literary war against the policy of the Austrian government. King Victor Emmanuel appointed him a Knight of the Order of Saint Maurice and Saint Lazarus. In 1867 he published "L'Economie Politique Avant les Physiocrates," which was crowned with the "Grand Prix" of the French Academy.
In 1869 Einhorn was enabled to return to Hungary. He was elected a member of the Reichstag from Presburg, and some years later from the most populous district of the capital. He founded the "Neue Freie Lloyd," but it had a short existence. In Judaism, in the struggle between the Orthodox and Reform parties, which was conducted with great bitterness, he sided with the former, although he had been a liberal theologian. He was appointed assistant secretary of commerce, but had held this post for six months only when he died.
A Király utcai Magyarító Egylet
1936-ban Szántóné a legújabb párizsi kalapmodellekkel szolgált. A földszint históriája nem olyan érdekes. Az emeleten történt érdemes esemény 1844-ben. A zsidók intézményesen igyekeztek elősegíteni a beolvadást, s megalapították Magyarító Egyletüket. Itt. Ebben a házban. Képviselővé választották, s ő lett a magyar kormány első zsidó tagja, kereskedelmi államtitkár – sajnos, a halála esztendejében. Most vár és reménykedik.”

Horn Ede, rabbi, a politikus, a nemzetgazdász, 48-as, garibaldista (1825-1875):
"Einhorn Ignác, aki később Horn Edére változtatta nevét, Vágújhelyen született 1825. szeptember 25-én. Eredetileg rabbinak tanult.
A Tisza Kálmán vezette ellenzékhez csatlakozott.
