30 sec exposure taken late at night at an old cemetery. My first attempt at this type of technique. Too bring out the details of the tombstone I used a light painting technique I read about several years ago in a Smithsonian magazine. In this picture I used a LED light and partially obscured the lens to prevent bright spots.

Jon and I replaced all of the lamps on the playfield with LEDs. Here you can see a brightness comparison. I know it's not the best photo in the world, but you can see how much brighter and whiter the KOP light is, compared to the other castles.
Now that they're all switched over, it looks pretty amazing! Also, it uses less power, putting less strain on the fuses, and they generate no heat, so they are less likely to burn up the plastics over time. ALSO they last much much longer than regular bulbs, so I won't have to change them for a really long time! WOO!

this is one answer to the question: what's the simplest LED taillight that I can build with a decent standlight? This taillight wires in parallel with a dynamo headlight, which means it gets roughly 6vac rms. The standard taillight draws 60mA, so I've designed this to draw 60mA average. It is actually drawing 120mA from half of the AC waveform, by virtue of D1. There are two LEDs. D4 will conduct more current than D3, due to the current flowing through D2 and R2. D2 prevents C1 from conducting back through D3 when the dynamo stops.. although maybe it's okay for that to happen?? R2 is designed to allow C1 to discharge a bit slowly and get more useful time from the standlight function.
I used smaller LED inside my lego minifig. When I butchered his head cutting the holes, I just decided to use them as eyes.

This is a macro of a tiny sculpture. I couldn't do this before without strong natural light and the right angle. The eyes reflect the flash pattern. Not bad for $27!
This is a good example on how annoying LEDs look when you shot them with long exposure and a moving camera. What looks like dots on the picture is in fact depicting short pulses of light.
