How important is this message. We need to rise above the feeling sorry for ourselves and focus on drawing closer to our Savior. Only in that way can true peace and happiness be found.

President Russell M. Nelson in the women’s broadcast challenged all the women and girls 8 and up to read The Book of Mormon by the end of the year. Today we are celebrating our 20th year anniversary and I thought this quote by Gordon B. Hinckley was quite fitting, "Love is meant to be an adventure." The last 20 years have been an amazing adventure. We have sent our first still born girl to heaven and brought 9 children here to earth, and have build powerful memories along the way. We will continue to for built wonderful memories for many years to come. Above all things though, we have built our testimony of the living Christ and have endevored to teach our children of Him. My greatest desire is to one day watch as each of our children embrace the Savior one by one and then all together walk into our eternal inheritance in the presence of the Father. Do what ever it takes to make sure that your love adventure brings you too into the arms of the living Christ, is my prayer, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

President Gordon B. Hinckley: “I feel to invite women everywhere to rise to the great potential within you. I do not ask that you reach beyond your capacity. I hope you will not nag yourselves with thoughts of failure. … I hope you will simply do what you can do in the best way you know. If you do so, you will witness miracles come to pass” (Teachings of Gordon B. Hinckley [1997], 696). This obviously applies to both men and women. My wife and I stayed at a resort in Tucson, AZ on Thursday and Friday and on Friday we ordered some nachos from the pool side bar. They were quite expensive, nearly $18, and we joked with each other, saying what if we could eat whatever we wanted because it was all included with our stay. The funny thing is that they didn't charge us, although we told them that they made a mistake.

Sometimes I feel that we are waiting for that big revelation, that grand insight or conduit from heaven to open up before our eyes. My sister tragically lost her son about 4-5 years ago, and was feeling that she deserved more. She has two friends, who are not even members of the Church, who have seen their deceased children in dreams. She called me about 6 months ago, confessing that this was shaking her testimony and she was struggling with this. We had a good discussion but these next 3 scriptures could have really helped her. Last week I called her and shared them with her and she was really glad. She had come to this same conclusion a few days earlier at a Relief Society activity or something, so my call was another testimony to her that this is the message she needed to hear.
The first scripture is found in John 20:29. This is when Thomas would not believe until he saw for himself.
John 20:29
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

What distractions and sins of omission are getting in our way that we are not willing to sacrifice? We want to be more valiant, then let us evaluate our lives and make some new commitments and resolve to take the necessary steps to honoring those commitments. Maxwell continues with more instruction for us:
"Most omissions occur because we fail to get outside ourselves. We are so busy checking on our own temperatures, we do not notice the burning fevers of others even when we can offer them some of the needed remedies, such as encouragement, kindness, and commendation. The hands which hang down and most need to be lifted up belong to those too discouraged even to reach out anymore.
Actually, everything depends—initially and finally—on our desires. These shape our thought patterns. Our desires thus precede our deeds and lie at the very cores of our souls, tilting us toward or away from God (see D&C 4:3). God can “educate our desires” (see Joseph F. Smith, Gospel Doctrine, 5th ed., Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., 1939, p. 297). Others seek to manipulate our desires. But it is we who form the desires, the “thoughts and intents of [our] hearts” (Mosiah 5:13)."

This past weekend was the 186th Annual General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. During 6 two-hour sessions, the General Authorities of the Church speak to the membership on various topics pertaining to families, the priesthood, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Tthis spread of schetchnotes were from talks given by Elder Neil L. Anderson ("God Loves His Children") and Mervyn B. Arnold ("Called to the Rescue").
I have been sketchnoting General Conference for the last 5 years and keep these notes close by so that I can use them in my personal study and when I am called upon to teach a class.

I read this quote the other day and it has just resonated with me ever since. Our Savior must KNOW we want to reach up to Him, and He must FEEL that our GREATEST DESIRE is to draw His power into our lives, then and only then, will the Holy Ghost teach us what to do. Wow, we must become true and pure in our hearts and motives and then we will be led unto Christ. We must want Him and He must be our greatest desire, I simply love this. We must become new creatures in Christ!!
