Sunshine and rain made for interesting light.

The Sword-billed Hummingbird is a charismatic species from Andean South America. It is found from Venezuela and Colombia in the north to Bolivia in the south. The species belongs to a monotypic genus, Ensifera, and is quite different from all other hummingbirds; metallic green and bronzed overall, with a black bill that is slightly upcurved and longer than the body length. This is the only bird species with a bill length that exceeds the body length. When seen perched, the species usually holds its bill quite upright, presumably because of balance issues stemming from this long and relatively heavy structure.

For me one of the most amazing hummingbirds of Ecuador! Taken at the amazing Zuro Loma Reserve.

The Law in Dundee tonight.

Lawers Dam is next to Lochan na Lairige and is located in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, United Kingdom. Lawers Dam has a length of 0.69 kilometres.

The old law buildings at the University of Melbourne are probably the most impressive parts of the Uni. This corridor and the previously displayed columns/arches are the highlight.

Ben Lawers (Scottish Gaelic: Beinn Labhair) is the highest mountain in the southern part of the Scottish Highlands. It lies to the north of Loch Tay, and is the highest point of a long ridge that includes seven Munros. It is the highest peak in Perthshire, and is the tenth highest Munro in Scotland. Ben Lawers was long thought to be over 4,000 feet (1,219.2 m) in height; accurate measurement in the 1870s showed it to be some 17 feet (5.2 m) short of this figure

With inversion. From the left side Beinn Ghlas, then far in the background Stob Bennein, Cruach Adrain and Ben More. Next Meal Garbh, Meal Nan Tarmachan, above them you can barely see Ben Oss and Ben Lui. On the right side you can see it closely Meall Corranich over him Meall Ghaordie. You can see far in the background Creag Mhor, Beinn Heasgarnich, Beinn Dorain. It barely rises above the clouds Beinn nan Oighreag, over him Beinn Mhanach, and on the far right Beinn Acaladair and Beinn A Chreachain.

A good day for a walk on Ben Lawers a few years ago.

On a sunny Friday the 13th I had the opportunity to chase the CSX Law Enforcement unit from north Toledo down to Northwood getting pictures at a couple spots including this view of them approaching Consaul. Toledo, OH 12/13/24

A quiet and bitter stick season-esque Saturday morning in East Brookfield, MA is disturbed by CSX I022 on November 29, 2025. CSXT 3194, adorned for hono(u)ring the law enforcement leads the charge on the short but hot intermodal eastbound, narrowly dodging the early morning fall shadows. The crew has just knocked down CP 64 on the Boston Sub, (B&A) and hurtles towards the eastern terminus of Worcester.

Today is the start of a new law in England. Cats have to be micro-chipped so they can be identified & their owners contacted if necessary. Obviously Bella is law-abiding!

Not everyone agrees with the new law. But I am happy that cats can be returned to their homes if found, potential owners will know that a cat doesn’t have an owner so it can be adopted & if the worst happens an owner can be notified. Yes, chips & registrations can be expensive - but charities & some vets don’t charge for this, especially when it’s done as part of the neutering & vaccination routine with a young cat. The chip takes only seconds to insert - years ago I held Charlie while his was replaced & he just gave one squeak! Bella already had her chip when I adopted her, so I only had to complete a form to give her new address & my contact details.

Seasonal colours - happy Caturday.

I owe it to www.capturesintime.co.uk for the inspiration of his image "Pentland Hills View"

or I would probably never have ventured into this spot. The ground was mostly frozen and I took my wellies, but there were still plenty of boggy bits to jump.
