#364/365 How cool is this shot! This photo is dedicated to all the 2009 365'ers! Congratulations...what a ride!
One of my favorite 365 project this year is from the awesome Lauren (aka Laurenlemon). Earlier this year Lauren moved down to LA, so it was only time till we ran into each other. For those who are familiar with her work you know she is a Jumpologist. So what better way to portray her than jumping in the middle of a huge street in the middle of downtown Los Angeles.
So the setup for this shot was so fun. I mounted a sb-800 on a monopod with a 43" shoot thru umbrella. We stood on the side of the road. When all was clear we ran into the middle. I assumed the drop knee position holding the monopod in one hand and the camera in the other. The flash was on full power so we had to time the jumps so the flash could recycle. In all did 2 trips into onto the street about 4 shots each trip. We got extremely lucky as there was no cars at the light! Overall it was a blast and I got a bunch of great shots of her jumping which I will post once this 365 is over.
There is a rumor floating about that there is a shot of me jumping as well...I deny everything.

This whole Lauren Lime look was kind of the second part to this photo - because while I love lemons, and I love yellow...green is still my favorite color.

Here's Lauren and her Rolleiflex. Initially in this series, I asked everyone to bring up their favourite cameras to have in their portrait. Lauren told me about her camera and how she got it. Lauren's aunt owned this Rolleiflex and although she had no use for it anymore, knew what a great and rare item it was. Despite knowing Lauren had a bit of an interest in photography and was thinking about passing it on to her, she decided to hold off on telling her about it until she knew for sure that she was serious about her craft. I guess somewhere between then and all the amazing work she's been posting on flickr she earned her dues. And rightly so, her photography is great, always fun beautiful and vibrant.
