A glimpse of the river

Kalmia latifolia, commonly called mountain laurel, calico-bush, or spoonwood, is a broadleaved evergreen shrub in the heather family, Ericaceae, that is native to the eastern United States.

There was only Laurel Lake. No Hardy or Laurel&Hardy Lake.

Laurel is a vigorous shrub that is often used to provide garden screening, The leaves and berries are very poisonous.

Along Laurel Run in western Maryland. It was a blast slowly walking out into the creek in my Teva water hiking shoes and setting up the tripod in all that motion and flow.

Spring in Great Smoky Mountains National Park brings brilliant colors, with deep green forests and bright pink and white mountain laurel.

 

As we celebrate Earth Day, I thought this image captured simply the beauty of nature without the distractions of man.

I saw another color of such flowers today, glad I took a shot.

 

Taken along the pretty creek there in Maryland.

Laurel leaf crown of "gold." I bought this "costume" accessory for a "Lord of the Rings" look for portrait photography.

I found that my window light was too strong so I put a black card in place and reflected the light from the left. It took me a while because the mirror reflected most of my cards but I was reasonably happy with the final image.
