Captured for Macro Mondays theme: socket. HMM everyone!

A small hover fly was quite interested in my laptop as I was working outside on our picnic table today as it came to visit a number of times before it paused for a picture.

After almost two decades the oldest one still works. I never think of computers becoming obsolete. Supplanted for sure but each one still performs well at the task it was bought for. That's not obsolete.

These units are all 17" screens

I began processing this photo a while ago but unfortunately my laptop died while doing so. Was it the Burj or the fact that my laptop was 3 years old and that it had been pushed to its limits...

Anyway, after a lot of time and energy, I finally gave up on the computer and I had to trash it. Thankfully I was able to salvage the HD and recover all of its files.

Fast forward 3 weeks and now armed with my newest editing tool a 21.5" iMac and I finally finished processing this photo. I'm loving my new iMac, it's a vast improvement from my 15" Gateway with dead pixels. I hope to take my processing techniques to the next level with my new computer, but I'm always open to constructive criticism so please let me know if you have any...Thx

ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti swapping the shell of a laptop aboard the International Space Station during her Minerva mission. She posted these images to her social media on 22 August 2022 with the caption:

When IT hardware fails on you… some things are the same, in space or on Earth! Laptops seem to fail more frequently up here, though. We are all proficient at shell swaps by now!

Different compositions playing about with the reflections.

This is an actual photo. Every screen is showing exactly whats behind it - relative to the camera, which was on a tripod. See from a different angle

The most difficult task was to convince the old powerbook 180 to show a simple jpeg.. netscape navigator 3 did it.

Inspired by all those.

First entry for the HARDnuary building challenge! A mini laptop and yes, it does close!

My first Laptop/computer cake.

Thank you so much to "Egg yol" & "CakesByShara" for all your help, you gave me some really good advice, and next time Shara I will get some foam core board (as you suggested) for the screen to make it less heavy!!

Everything is edible except for the screen, it is a chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream covered (bottom layer) with blue fondant and then the top layer (laptop) is the same but covered with grey fondant then painted silver. This has turned out to be the fiddliest cake I have done so far, as I cut out the keys on the keyboard individually, just incase it broke while putting it on, and as for the Ipod in the front, I added that because I put a dent in the front of the blue layer of cake, but I quite like the look of it, well except for the screen (on the computer, that is)..........but hey they aren't eating that............well I hope not!!! Lol!

Luna and Lenovo. Something about the way she was sitting on the keyboard was causing the desktop icons to cycle through their various sizes and re-arrange themselves. I should have taken a movie.
