Language Of Love

I’m old fashioned and romantic

Like the films in black and white

all the lovers were enchanting

can you and I be old-fashioned tonight?

I wanna get lost in the music

and feel tipsy from the wine

speak of love, I won’t refuse it

I want a love like in another place and time

Dance with me

Oh, so close

and the music will speak the language of love

*Drumknott*

Just imagine me in white satin

like a 1930’s star

if we play the part, lovely things can happen

we can be old fashion being who we are

Dance with me

Oh, so close

and the music will speak the language of love

I wanna let the rhythm take us

I wanna know what it can make us feel

so let the moment hypnotize us

fantasy is a tiny step from real

A stack of bowls is on the other side of that cabinet door--with leftover dry kibble in them. He checks this spot frequently, to see if one of us forgets to close the cabinet.

Our daily ritual this winter is a walk ... either on the very frozen Keefer Lake or on our forest trail (or both). Although she is mostly very patient with me, sometimes Rosa can get frustrated when I am constantly stopping to take photos. I liked the 'hole in the sky' that was developing.

PS: That's the dog's leash in her hands - not a mobile phone. :)

There are infinite shadings of light and shadows and colors... it's an extraordinarily subtle language. Figuring out how to speak that language is a lifetime job.

The theme for "Smile on Saturday" for the 28th of December is "smiley in selective colour", a theme chosen because this is the last theme of this year. Where does the time go? Now this theme sounds fairly easy in comparison to some we have had this year, but whereas some of those more difficult themes have been easy for me, this one was far more challenging. Why? Because I don't have a single smiley in the house, and I have no idea where to get one from. So, I decided the only solution was to draw my own, which I did with my beloved Derwent Studio pencils. I did that on purpose partially because I needed a smiley, but also, because the theme is selective colour, I wanted to show the name of the colours I used in the photo in the black and white portion of the photo. I hope you like my choice for this week's theme, and that it makes you smile like my smiley!

As this is the last "Smile on Saturday" before the New Year, I should just like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in the group a very happy New Year. May the year ahead be filled with happiness and joy for you all.

Derwent, or the Derwent Cumberland Pencil Company, is a manufacturer of pencils and other stationery. The business began in 1832 in Cumberland under the name of Banks, Son & Co. The company was bought by Acco UK and became a brand of their product range.

Flowers speak a language all their own. They are the perfect gift to let someone know you care and are thinking about them. When words just seem difficult to come by, a fragrant bouquet of fresh-cut flowers can speak for you.

Reading all my feelings, need a one-way ticket

Looking so fly 'cause I mind my business

Self-proposed but you know I'm vicious

Slow your roll, you can't lie to me, baby

I see it all in your eyes and your face

Want these knees to go opposite ways

And I see you fiendin', go off on it, babe

I don't need to speak, I'm not talkin', babe

The European mouflon, called mouflon in hunter's language, is the westernmost and smallest subspecies of the mouflon. It was originally distributed only on the Mediterranean islands of Corsica and Sardinia, but has since been introduced into numerous areas of Europe.

Floriography... the language of flowers. This Hydrangea stands for boastfulness... reaching to the rooftops at a time when other flowers are finishing for the season.

This work is dedicated to my friend, Marta, whom I consider as family, in fact as another daughter. However, Marta has a wonderful Mother and Father both of whom I love, so she is a daughter in my heart and always will be!

Samkar, on Samkar Lake in the Shan State.

“Samkar” in the local language means the frangipani flower, which is the symbol of this village.

Benedict went to work at E. Remington and Sons in nearby Ilion, N.Y., after his Hamilton graduation. This company not only manufactured arms and agricultural implements but also did piece work for inventors who devised new machines. One such invention, in 1873, was for a typewriter designed by Christopher Latham Sholes. Although the Remington company did not make much progress with the manufacture of the new instrument, Benedict realized its potential.

Benedict and two partners bought the rights to the typewriter and organized a firm to sell the “practical writing machine.” The name Remington was retained, and in 1902 the Remington Typewriter Co. was formed with Benedict as president until his retirement in 1913. Benedict, who served as a Hamilton trustee from 1897 until his death in 1935, provided funds for the Hall of Languages, built in 1897, and for the purchase of the Chapel organ.

Engraved by insects on my juniper tree, the uncertain message is a wooden petroglyph. Like any language, with study, one day I will know its meaning.
