The North-West area of the Fort is certainly the most spectacular corner. Its outer wall is covered in glazed tiles of a rare variety and unsurpassed brilliance of color. Begun by Jahangir in the last years of his reign, the work was completed in 1631A.D. by Shah Jahan. Geometric designs, animals and people all feature in the wall. The latter of special interest for the light they thrown on the sports and amusement of the Mughal emperors, polo, wrestling, hunting, elephant and bull fights, gladiatorial combat and music. The general design is clearly inspired by a style of court painting that reached its zenith under Jahangir and Shah Jahan. With their limited palate that renders the color schemes somewhat unrealistic, these miniature genre scenes posses a unique savor.

The Lahore Fort, locally referred to as Shahi Qila (Punjabi, Urdu: شاہی قلعہ) is citadel of the city of Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It is located in the northwestern corner of the Walled City of Lahore. The trapezoidal composition is spread over 20 hectares.

Origins of the fort go as far back as antiquity, however, the existing base structure was built during the reign of Mughal emperor Akbar (1556–1605), who was a Secular Emperor of Hindustan (India) and was regularly upgraded by subsequent rulers, having thirteen gates in all.[1] However, it is said to be built first in 800B.C. Thus the fort manifests the rich traditions of Mughal architecture.[2] Some of the famous sites inside the fort include: Sheesh Mahal, Alamgiri Gate, Naulakha pavilion, and Moti Masjid. In 1981, the fort was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the Shalimar Gardens (Lahore).

its the story of old Lahor,,,,,,,,,,,,,

People gather daily beside the main gate of Lahore Fort at evening and tell the stories and folk lores from history. Men from the sburbs, mostly jobless, ambit that place and narrate folk ballads to earn some money and praise from the listeners. Its a hundred years tradition of Lahore when after a daylong jobs men gathered at such places and gardens to enjoy the only entertainment of their daily life. Althoug these customs are going throug atrophy but such few gatherings still occur in old city of Lahore.
