This is my third uploaded photo of the "lady in red" from my Prague rain serie and the eight version of a serie that for now consists of eight photos with more to come. This one might be the one with worst quality because she is moving her head and arm at the same moment I take the shot but I don´t really mind because she express something special with her body language in all three photos and that´s the most important thing for me. All constructive feedback is welcome!

A cluster of Sturt's Desert Pea flowers taken at the Arid Garden, Melbourne Botanical Gardens. ( Does not grow naturally in our state of Victoria)

Genus – after Isaac Swainson (1746–1812), London physician who developed a private botanic garden at Twickenham, England.

species – (Latin) formosus – beautiful, well-shaped; referring to the flower.

Description

This quintessentially Australian native is a prostrate, creeping annual or perennial plant with silky grey-green, pinnate leaves and spectacular large (typically about 90 mm long), scarlet flowers. These flowers appear from June to October in their natural habitat and are typically borne in groups of five or six held up on thick stalks. The centre of these flowers is typically black forming a striking contrast to the petals. There are natural colour variations within this species including pinks, yellows and even an albino form.

Sturt’s Desert Pea occurs naturally in inland areas of all of mainland Australia, except for Victoria. It extends to the coast in Western Australia, north of Shark Bay (where the desert meets the sea).

Swainsona formosa was adopted as the floral emblem of South Australia in 1961 when it was known as Clianthus formosus.

After taking the Sea to Sky Gondola to the top of a mountain near Squamish, BC, there is a suspension bridge that I am finally able to cross without hanging on. We got an annual pass to go up there, as there are many hikes, Friday night musical concerts and much more to do. Recently, I saw this woman standing on the suspension bridge and I was able to capture her before she made her way off. This small shrub shows its lovely red colored leaves in autumn, thats why it is also called "lady in red".

Powerscourt Estate is in Enniskerry, County Wicklow, Ireland, and is a large country estate known for its manor house and splendid landscaped gardens.

I have just now discovered that Chris de Burgh, a British-Irish singer-songwriter and instrumentalist, was living in the Enniskerry area when I visited Powerscourt Estate in October 2011. He moved to the area in 1997 and has lived there ever since.

I wonder if that is a woman dressed in red, at the extreme right hand border and if so, could she be Chris de Burgh’s “Lady in Red” . . .

Near the Kurhaus-Park in Augsburg-Göggingen

This is a private road between Harewell Wood Farm and Harewell Hall in Nidderdale, North Yorkshire. Only walkers and runners are allowed access to this road. It runs parallel to the River Nidd between Glasshouses and Dacre Banks
