1990 built BCOL 4612 storms up Steelton Hill with the L-509 transfer from the CN Pokegama yard to Proctor. The end of the new 2nd main up the hill can be seen here.

Three IC SD70s sit side by side at Joliet Yard. The 1015 would go out on L520, the 1032 would leave on L509, and 1001 would go out on L529 to Smurfitt.
J746 is about to cross Ridge Road in Minooka, running many hours later than normal and almost having an over-under meet with L509.
Orange all around as L509 crosses Ridge Rd, which is in the process of being widened. Rumor has it this bridge will have an extension built to the right in this picture but time will tell if the lettering stays or not.
CN L509 comes into downtown London at the Rideout signal bridge after making their round trip from Sarnia.

CN L509 crosses the DuPage River in Plainfield, about to take the turn onto the River Line towards East Morris.
IC SD70 1028 leads the return trip of CN L509 south through Crest Hill, IL. The 1028 recently returned to the main CN system after spending several years on the old B&LE.
CN westbound #L509 passes Komoka led by BCOL Dash 8-CMu 4608, with CN ES44DC 2227 and SD75I 5774 behind.

Well, it's kinda the Missabe because it's Steelton Hill and that's the former Interstate Branch but it's the new CN alignment so it's kinda not former anything plus it's not a Missabe train and well whatever.
A438 came down from Symington yesterday with this consist (6253 was the third motor, that Supah Bonga was leading and that other Bonga was the DP) and after Mr. Welch took that 6253 over to the BN last night he lined it up to head up the hill back to Proctor on the morning transfer and passed along word.
The morning transfer fell down some and after 11am the Pokegama-based L509 hopped on and rolled out, passing me here just above Gary after meeting (the next) A438 and kicking up some of the 6 inches of fresh snow that fell overnight.
In July 2023, Nova Scotia experienced heavy rains and flooding. These rains resulted in the CN mainline being severed for a number of days. Despite the lack of traffic in and out of the Halifax area, there was still work to be done with the available cars. Here, CN L509 works the Irving Terminal.
CN 5386 leads the L509 north through Plainfield, about to jump on the River Line to Minooka. Note: the trailing unit, CN 5545, is one of if not the last SD60F not in storage. 4/28/16
L509 has finished up its work serving customers east(south) of Dartmouth and is now heading back to the yard. Halifax Harbour is visible in the background, and NSCC on the left.

It's always good to see one of CN's Dash 8s leading. CN westbound #L509 has Dash 8-40C 2103 and SD70I 5607 up front as it approaches Pulham Road, east of Komoka.
