The existing buildings were wooden, and single storey. These were some new buildings to replace the old ones.
The National Assembly of Kuwait, known as the Majlis Al-Umma ("House of the Nation") (Arabic: مجلس الأمة), is the legislature of Kuwait. The current speaker of the Assembly is Jassem Al-Kharafi. The Emir unconstitutionally dissolved the National Assembly in 1986 and restored it after the Gulf War in 1992. The Emir has also constitutionally dissolved the Assembly several times—meaning that he dissolved it but allowed for elections immediately afterward.

افتتح مبنى مجلس الأمة الحالي في 23 فبراير 1986 برعاية المغفور له بإذن الله , الشيخ جابر الأحمد الصباح ، وقد بلغت كلفته الإجمالية 25 مليونا و869 ألف دينار كويتي، وكان افتتاح المجلس يواكب احتفالات الكويت في العيد الوطني الخامس والعشرين، وحضر الافتتاح رؤساء مجالس الأمة السابقين وعدد من الأعضاء السابقين وعدد من الوزراء السابقين وعدد من رؤساء البرلمانات العربية، وصمم المبنى نفس مصمم مبنى دار أوبرا سيدني الدنماركي يورن أوتسون، ويضم المبنى القاعة الرئيسية للمجلس المسماة باسم قاعة عبد الله السالم نسبة إلى الشيخ عبد الله السالم الصباح وتتسع القاعة إلى قرابة الألف شخص.
Kuwait has known the consultative system (Al-Shoora) since 1920. The first state consultative council in the region was formed during the reign of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The first elected legislative assembly was formed in the country in 1938 with 14 members. Though it was short-lived, it speaks volumes of Kuwait's serious attempts to create democratic institutions way back in 1930s.
Modern parliamentary life in Kuwait began on June 19, 1961 with the elections to the Constituent Assembly. This was followed by the first session of the National Assembly held on January 29, 1963.

It is good to be back in Manchester, a recent weekend spent catching up on not only carriers that have a major base within the region, but also many new carriers that have recently commenced service to the area. Rather than just a quick one-stop, a 2 day visit felt more appropriate.
Kuwait Airways is one of the more recent airlines to commence flights into Manchester, the flag-carrier in recent years has been undergoing major fleet renewal. Apart from the Boeing 777-300ERs, all of the airline's fleet consists of new generation aircraft ranging from the smaller Airbus A320neo family aircraft to the Airbus A330neo family.
Kuwait Airways commenced flights into Manchester on 1st May 2022 from their main hub at Kuwait City; initially the flag-carrier operates thrice weekly utilising Airbus A320neos, by early-2023 saw capacity increase with the now withdrawn Airbus A330-200s being utilised before later transitioning over to the unique Airbus A330-800.
Today, Kuwait Airways still operates thrice weekly; KU113/114 is typically scheduled with Airbus A330-900s which were first introduced in late-2024 with the occasional use of Airbus A330-800s. Airbus A321neos have also appeared albeit very rarely.
Currently, Kuwait Airways operates 7 Airbus A330s, which includes 4 Airbus A330-800s and 3 Airbus A330-900s. Kuwait Airways have 4 Airbus A330-900s on-order.
Alpha Papa Juliet is one of 3 Airbus A330-900s operated by Kuwait Airways, delivered new to the flag-carrier on 9th December 2024 and she is powered by 2 Rolls-Royce Trent 7000-72 engines. She is named after Kuwait's largest island, Bubiyan Island.
