I think I dated myself on this one. Anyhow it's Monday who doesn't need another Snowy Owl image? It's winter so I don't feel very out of place in sharing Snowy. I'll have plenty for the summer too...for years.
One of the permanent features in my garden is a small pod of water lilies that bloom all year round, attracting a steady stream of visitors - mostly from these sting-less bees.
I love photographing these little bees, they are quite tolerant of my presence, going about their routine without any fuss, and generally posing well for my shots. The only thing that might be a bit of a letdown is that they don't have any markings or features that make them standout - they're just black all over, and are quite small too.
Thus, the only good photos are when they are contrasted against a strong light colored background so they don't look that boring and featureless.

I was seriously ready to do a panning shot on one of the birds near a lake, they were the dumbest lazy birds I have ever seen, they were just sitting there doing nothing and I was like praying for at least one bird to get up and fly. Fly slowly for some time before me in a straight line. (For my panning practice :P )
I was stuck there in an infinite waiting and then suddenly.. OUCH…a bloody red ant, was enjoying its bite on my arm. I turned around and found that the trunk (of the tree beside which I was standing) was full of big black ants. Among them was this pretty little one and what it was doing is what you are seeing (trying to do some kung-fu practice with the nail) :D
Looks likes it just watched the “kung-fu Panda” movie ;)
Few interesting quotes from this awesome movie:
Po: Legend tells of a legendary warrior whose kung fu skills were the stuff of legend.
Po: It is said that his enemies would go blind from over-exposure to pure awesomeness!
Mr. Ping: The secret ingredient is... nothing!
Po: Huh?
Mr. Ping: You heard me. Nothing! There is no secret ingredient.
Po: Wait, wait... it's just plain old noodle soup? You don't add some kind of special sauce or something?
Mr. Ping: Don't have to. To make something special you just have to believe it's special.
>> Po is the Panda and Mr. Ping is his father.
And by the time I took this click and turned around, all the birds flew away…..

Shaolin Kung Fu (Chinese: 少林功夫; pinyin: Shàolín gōngfu), also called Shaolin Wushu (少林武術; Shàolín wǔshù), is among the oldest institutionalized styles of Chinese martial arts. Known in Chinese as Shaolinquan (Chinese: 少林拳; pinyin: Shàolínquán) or Shaolin wugong (Chinese: 少林武功; pinyin: Shàolín wǔgōng), it originated and was developed in the Buddhist Shaolin temple in Henan province, China. During the 1500 years of its development, Shaolin kung fu became one of the largest schools of kung fu. The name Shaolin is also used as a brand for the so-called external styles of kung fu. Many styles in southern and northern China use the name Shaolin.
