I spend a lot of my time on public transportation, mostly buses. Getting to where I need to be is one of my daily activities. I’ve learned that I need to plan ahead to get to where I want to end up and this idea is relevant to a lot of aspects of life. I feel like I tend to overlook these small connections. Forgetting that everything has it’s reasons, causes, and effects. Almost forgetting to acknowledge that we are all connected, even if that is only for a forty-five minute bus ride.

Crews from the Westminster Fire Department work on putting out the fire at 719 Sweetwood Hill on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018. The call came out at 5:05 a.m. for a smoke investigation but upgraded to a first alarm. The icy road slowed vehicles down from reaching the blaze. No injuries were reported and the occupants appeared not be home at the time of the fire.

Kristopher's Wish

Jan 8 - Dec 20 2004

Kristopher Knowles was born in 1990 and was afflicted with the deadly liver disease Biliary Atresia. He needed a liver transplant. Somehow he survived after over 20 operations. He met George Marcello when he was 10 years old in July 2000 during the Canada 769 Day Walk. When Mr Marcello met Pope John Paul 2 in Sep 5 2001, his holiness mentioned to George to pass the torch to the children. At the age of 14 Kristopher had a wish. His wish was to carry the famous Torch Of Life across Canada. On Jan 8 2004, in Kristopher's hometown of Sarnia George passed the Torch to Kris. He carried the Torch throughout 200 cities/towns , while waiting for his beeper to go off indicating that a liver was available for him. The beeper never did go off, but he recruited nearly a million students along the way to become organ and tissue donors. Kristopher will be 19 on April 2009 and is still waiting for a liver transplant and wants to continue in Step By Step's future journeys.

These are the videos that were shown at each of the over 200 schools that he stopped into. JAN 8 2004-DEC 20 IQALUIT NUNAVUT

Polaroid Nerd Out San Francisco. Kristopher aka Kristen. Kris took a couple of me in this little patch of flowers as well and this was my version. It was super over exposed but that other shot of him lying in it turned out pretty majestically. The cameras love Kris.

It seems that no matter how much people are around each other, in America, there always seems to be personal isolation, almost as if we avoid interaction. Constantly people remove themselves from their surroundings. We never put our guard down in public. We would rather open a book than open ourselves; rather listen to iPods than converse with one another. People don’t care to acknowledge the public around them. Seattle is built on, not a cohesive foundation, but on an array of individuals, but we are more alike then we like to own up to. I would like to think that our society is more interconnected than we’d like to admit.
