Photographed in a corner of dappled light in Kowloon Park, Hong Kong.

Needless to say I have added a few shadows and little highlight.

I went out this afternoon again to shoot some birds in a park. Last week when I went there it was a bit dark so I couldn't shoot in a faster shtter speed. The camera LCD is not visible under strong sunlight so I couldn't go at noon either.

Flamingo- Kowloon Park, Hong Kong, 香港

Located in the Tsim Sha Tsui area of Hong Kong, Kowloon Park is a peaceful, green oasis right in the heart of this incredibly busy part of the city. It covers an area of just under 33 acres, with a varied landscape connected by pathways snaking through preened shrubs and ancient banyan trees. A flock of about 40 to 50 flamingos (greater and lesser admixed) like to gather at the shallow of the Bird Lake.

Flamingo diet largely consists of crustaceans and algae, which are rich in carotenoids. This pigment gives flamingos the hot pink or reddish coloration they are known for.

This is probably a pair of lesser flamingos. The little gray one on the left is still in young (immature) plumage. It has just emerged from under the water. They are introduced species in Hong Kong.

The neck of flamingo is flexible and long. My lens is not long enough though.

Wish you a good day!

I visited Kowloon Park to see the flamingos during my Hong Kong trip last month. My telephoto lens is not long enough and I did not get any satisfactory and interesting pictures.

The weather was so hot and even the birds were hiding under the shade.

I still post one here as my record of visit. :o)

Have a great evening!

This is the flamingoes in Kowloon Park Aviary. The picture was taken during my visit to Hong Kong last year. The scene is full of textures and shapes. I decided to convert it into B&W.

Please let me know what you think about it. Thanks

Kowloon Park is one of the biggest city parks in Hong Kong. It is located in the city centre of Tsim tsa Tsui.

Flamingo- Kowloon Park, Hong Kong, 香港

taken in the small beautiful garden in the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre. i just stitched the two views of both ends of the small path in the garden together.

The Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre is housed in Blocks S61 and S62 of the former Whitfield Barracks where Kowloon Park now stands in the centre of Tsim Sha Tsui. Constructed around 1910, the blocks were used by the British Army until the land was released to the Hong Kong Government in 1967 and made available for recreation and leisure purposes; they then served as the temporary premises of the Hong Kong Museum of History from 1983 to 1998 before the new museum complex was built in Tsim Sha Tsui East. Following a restoration project designed to preserve the historic features of the military buildings while upgrading the facilities and creating space for adaptive use to meet complex exhibition needs, the buildings are now used for heritage education and publicity. Kowloon Park in Hong Kong. I had spent most of the day traveling to Macau and back, so I went to the park to get some peace and quite to wind down.

Home Sweet Home … back to TST. I can actually see our balcony at the top of K11 next to the Rosewood tower.

Towards the Light … and the China Ferry Terminal, over Canton Road.

More Flamingoes … I like Kowloon Park. It's smaller than Hampstead Heath, but then, no flamingoes on the Heath :-)
