(The glass is from the Swedish glass manufacturer Kosta, and their series Kent - it once belonged to my grand-parents. And I got a new camera lens at Christmas, so now I can take real close-ups.)
The raki he distills is excellent and he's very generous with it - not only after the tasty meals his cook Sofia cooks. Those who have been once in their restaurant come again and again.

Saint Fotini, Mantineia / Greece
one of the strangest churches in the world.
Next to the ancient Greek theater of Mantineia is located Saint Fotini, built by the Arcadian architect Kostas Papatheodorou. It is a building that combines ancient Greek and Christian influences, which built stone-by-stone, painted and decorated on its own from 1970-75, with the help of a few unskilled workers. The stones and marbles were collected from the demolished buildings, barrows and sheets of the Arcadian plateau and were processed one by one with almost primitive tools. He then built an ancient Heron outside the temple, in honor of the Arcadians who fought for their homeland and a Jacobite Freer, symbolizing Jesus' meeting with Samaritan. He painted the interior of the church giving the saints modern human figures and made mosaics on the floors with representations of ancient Greek mythology that are adorned with Christian doctrines. Many great names in art were flattered about his work, but many also strongly disputed it. The official Orthodox Church accepted it, but without objection. The architect as a true faithful Christian has so far defended his work modestly. Although he studied at major universities in Vienna and Berlin next to world-class teachers, he remains a very gentle and modest personality. Saint Fotini owes its existence not only to him, but also to the enlightened minds of the Mantinian League, who commissioned it to build and support to the end his revolutionary architectural innovations.

Περίπου στα 12χλμ. βόρεια της Τρίπολης βρίσκεται μια από της πιο παράξενες εκκλησίες στον κόσμο, ακριβώς απέναντι από τον αρχαιολογικό χώρο της Μαντίνειας.
Άρχισε να κτίζεται το 1970 από τον αρχιτέκτονα Κωνσταντίνο Παπαθεοδώρου μετά από πρόταση που του έγινε από τον Μαντινειακό Σύνδεσμο, του οποίου ο χώρος αυτός είναι ιδιοκτησία.
Ο ίδιος ο κ. Παπαθεοδώρου εξηγεί: «Η εκκλησία είναι φτιαγμένη σε επίπεδα που το ένα φαίνεται να πατάει επάνω στο άλλο. Άλλωστε, η κίνηση διαδραματίζει σημαντικό ρόλο στο σύνολο της εκκλησίας. Το άνω τελείωμα του ναού μοιάζει με αέτωμα, αλλά βουλιάζει όπως τα φτωχά καλυβάκια του κάμπου της Μαντινείας. Συγχρόνως ο ναός κάμπτεται ψηλά από το βάρος των πολλών Αγίων. Ορισμένα τμήματα του ναού, όπως οι κίονες, έχουν σμιλευτεί με τρόπο που δημιουργεί την ψευδαίσθηση ότι κάποτε ήταν φτιαγμένοι από ξύλο και στη συνέχεια αντικαταστάθηκαν από μάρμαρο, όπως ακριβώς συνέβη με τους ναούς κατά την αρχαιότητα.

Mrs Mail came to the rescue again with her Kosta Boda bowl from the lounge room. I got special permission to actually move it into the sun, the first time I have actually been brave enough to touch it since she bought it.
