The Schnoor quarter is the oldest documented quarter of Bremen and it has largely preserved its medieval character.

First mentioned in the 13th century. The two oldest remaining buildings are from 1401 and 1402 respectively. Some buildings are just remaining facades or have been relocated from other locations.

The world's oldest social housing complex, formally founded in 1521 by Jakob Fugger "the Rich", though construction actually started earlier. The first buildings were erected between 1516 and 1523.

This is the Herrengasse, sort of the main street in this complex.

I post this photo for the theme "From the ground" of the Smile on Saturday group. It was a last minute photo and I took it this morning when I was on my way into town. The building is the palace of Ludwigsburg (Germany), a place where I know every stone and where I have already taken many photos. For the theme I tried to do something different and therefore used my crystal ball. The courtyard looks deserted but behind me was a path on which quite a lot of people walked by and wondered what I was doing on the floor but that is something you learn to ignore as a photographer. :) HSoS !

Facade of one of the ancient buildings in the Schnoor quarter. This particular building dates to 1631.

The inscription on the lintel reads: "AN GOTTES SEGEN IS ALES GELEGEN 1631" (roughly: "All depends on God's blessing")

My Image is a symbol and a message to my french friends

about a wonderful landmark that belongs to all of us.

Spring is the promise that everything can begin again, letting go and embracing something new.

NOTRE-DAME CATHEDRAL - one of the most iconic symbols of beauty and history in Paris was damaged in a massive fire on April. 15th/16th 2019. A tragedy.

On the night of the fire, France's president Emmanuel Macron announced that the cathedral, which is owned by the state, would be rebuilt, and launched an international fundraising campaign the next day.

Fortunately, It will be restored.

And a miraccle of Nature's bag of tricks appeared:

Notre Dame has housed three beehives on the first floor on a roof over the sacristy, just beneath the rose window, since 2013. Each hive has about 60,000 bees. The 180,000 bees are alive and busy.

________

Eutin is a small town in northern Germany. at night there is a calm here that is completely unknown in large cities.

Wandergesellen in Quedlinburg

They wear wide flared trousers, collarless shirts, large hats and travel all over the world: journeymen. The color of their clothing indicates which branch they belong to: carpenters and roofers wear black. They all have a journeyman's certificate in their pocket, are unmarried, debt-free and younger than 30 years old - these are the prerequisites for going on the roll.

For a brief moment between day and night, it is fabulously beautiful to stroll through the medieval alleys of Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
