Koi fish are known to swim against the current and overcome great obstacles. They symbolise strength, patience, courage and success. As they can grow very large, they also become the symbol of prosperity and luck.”

Have a fantastic Friday!

*Scottish writer and award-winning poet, John Burnside (Amazon), is one of the three authors who have won both the T. S. Eliot Prize and the Forward Poetry Prize for the same book. He has authored fourteen collections of poetry and eleven works of fiction.

John Burnside’s quote adjures us to be more cautious, more humane in our interactions with other living things in the environment. This is a call for humans to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle in production, consumption and waste management.

Not all fish have lips, but Koi fish like this one do. Koi lips are covered with sensory cells that help them feel objects. It also helps them taste. These fish also have prominent nostrils, which you can see here on the head between the eyes. (The left nostril looks like an eye on first glance.) Water passes through the nostrils during swimming, which helps the fish smell.

Everyone lives in their own bubble. A bubble of feelings, resentments, pain, loneliness, anguish, illness or just because you want to live in a protected bubble. As a child blows and makes countless bubbles in the air, sometimes the bubbles collide, join, merge... or disappear.

Seen in Kyoto Garden, Holland Park, London

Kyoto Garden is one of the best gardens to visit in London. It is well-maintained and has plants that flourish year-round. I believe the most beautiful it is in the fall, we would see large pops of color in the Japanese acers throughout the garden.

As you walk around the Kyoto Garden path, look into the pond and you may spot some koi fish. Seems The Heron has noticed them too...unfortunately they are far too big for him...but who knows what can come over!

Sliders Sunday

There was a painting of some Koi Fish on the wall at the Thai restaurant where we had lunch today. I used the Dynamic Auto Painter 8 to bump this up a notch!
