Today we are celebrating 0 degree Celsius. It snowed aver 18 cm by 8:00 a.m. today. So schools were closed and children had a joyous Snow Day—a sort of extended Christmas Break. Have a wonderful day...

I visited this awesome old structure in the ghost town of White Knob while on a tour put on in conjunction with Idaho Archaeology & Historic Preservation Month. The tour was led by the Mayor of nearby Mackay Idaho, Wayne Olsen.

This is the Headhouse where the ore was brought from the mine and readied to go down the hill to Mackay.

This Bennington-style porcelain door knob was shot at a building in Brattleboro, Vermont.

The Bennington pottery first produced richly swirled clay knobs in the mid 1800s. Paired with small rosettes or back plates, they make a stately, yet understated period style door set. The durable glazed knobs were firmly fastened to a solid iron shank in antique iron finish.

For some reason this morning, I needed a shot reflecting warmer temperatures, pale but green grass and a pristine calm blue sky!

Winter will start to wear thin for this Danish guy . . . now looking towards spring, flowers, warm showers and did I mention GOLF! LoL

In Switzerland, archaeologists unearthed a door from the Stone Age in 2010. A wooden door with a doorknob that is 5,000 years old and thus the only one of its kind in all of Europe. We also know that the Romans already used doorknobs for their 'apartments' (insulae), sometimes also together with locks with keys. In the thirties, bronze door handles were also found on ships at Lake Nemi in Italy. www.weijntjes.nl/kennisbank/geschiedenis-van-de-deurkruk#....

I Love Elephants !!

Did you know :

Their trunks have mad skills

Elephants have around 150,000 muscle units in their trunk. Their trunks are perhaps the most sensitive organ found in any mammal. Elephants use their trunks to suck up water to drink – it can contain up to 8 litres of water. They also use their trunks as a snorkel when swimming.

This granite knob lies in the Sweewater Rocks in the Granite Mountains near Jeffery City, Wyoming. Geologically, this granite knob is located in the Archean-age Sweetwater subprovince of the Wyoming Craton. These rocks represent a time when Wyoming was a separate microcontinent called the Wyoming Craton which existed 500 million years before the North American Continent formed. The Sweetwater subprovince has an east-west tectonic grain which is caused by a shear zone between the Sweetwater and Southern Accredited Terrane subprovinces along the southern edge of the Wyoming microcontinent.

”A very special Knob

You won’t find in any Shop

Eager to create something Special

That leads you to a different Level

It might be somewhat Abstract

Just made of something wrapped

In a Piece of shiny Alu Foil

Which might cause a big Turmoil…

Don’t worry, but be HaPpY

It’s not that very CrApPy“

Used to open a drawer in an old, small, painted black, desk. Desk has two such drawers, side by side, with identical knobs.

For Macro Monday - Knob

I purchased this tripod about 12 years ago and have rarely used it, at least today it has a use, this is one of the knobs for adjusting the camera plate. You can see the bubble indicating that it is not on the level!

It is 15mm in diameter.

Happy Macro Monday!

Pilot Knob State Park - Iowa

Spent a little time in the park today, enjoying these little delightful signs of spring. Very cloudy today, so when the sun did peek, I had to be quick . . .

It's been very cold and windy the last few days, which slows the wildflowers and buds.
