Here's an example of the unusual nature of a bird's legs (well, not unusual for them). :-)) As shown in the picture of the Spur-winged Lapwing, their knees bend forward, opposite of human knees which bend backward. Another example is shown in the first picture in the comments below.
The second picture below shows a roosting lapwing.

i was taking pics of street performers when i turned around and spotted this seagull sort of kneeling. when i got closer it stood on its feet.
A demon wants you to kneel for it .A very brave hand is giving it the (middle) finger. Maybe the finger is telling the demon to kneel:-)

The making of decorated kneeling pads is something of a tradition in Norfolk congregations. This is St Mary's in the small village of Gayton Thorpe. The building dates to the 11th Century. The pews are a 1900s restoration.

This disciple is wearing a bindi in the middle of her forehead, which is an Indian decoration. Her arm and wrist bracelets look Indian, and the fabric looking her arms may be an interpretation of the sari.

In the origin story of Monkey, this mischievous magical being who turned up in Chinese heaven just before the feast of the Immortal Peaches, a long awaited event as the peaches only ripened once every 3000 years. The theme of Monkey's life is that things always go wrong for him, and he caused havoc in the process of escaping. and of course he ate a peach because it looked so good. He already had magical powers, but this caused him to become immortal.
I read a book with this and other stories in my childhood and loved Monkey, Pigsy and Tripitaka. Later I discovered the Japanese TV series and watched only a couple of them. This reminds me to hunt them down to watch properly.

I thought that this was a very short Killdeer, but closeup it was evident that she was "kneeling". (Look at her knees, and think of how humans kneel) : )
No, Killdeer were not named by advocates for killing deer. The high-pitched call of this bird sounds like "Kill deeer".
