Venturing out into the markets in Tel Aviv after a nice breakfast. This man was slicing and chopping with a tool he was selling. Funny thing was I already have one. It's a type of potato peeler.

I've received a gift for the kitchen, a Norwegian tool to cut the cheese.
After the Fjords and the Vikings, i know something more about that country..
Cheese Slicer: was invented by Thor Bjørklund in 1925 in Norway. The cheese slicer's mass production started in 1927. The design was based on the carpenter's plane. This style of slicer is very common in the Nordic countries, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland.

Assignment pca104: 1 week (Apr 25-May 1, 2010
Assignment: PCA104 – A Seldom (if ever used) Tool From The Kitchen Drawer That Has Everything Else In It!
Date: Apr 25- May 1, 2010)
From: stefankor11 - Ziggy
WIT: Well, this is not a food prep tool (at least not directly), but it's a rarely used took found in one of my kitchen drawers. I opened one of the big drawers with all the stuff :) I rummaged through all the stuff, and I saw this corkscrew thing. It was in the back. I didn't know I had one! It was shiny, so I figure it would be a good subject. I used one single light source (from the left side of the subject). It was diffused with a tracing paper. I put a reflector (well, white foamboard) atop and to the right side. The background and bottom surfaces are white poster boards. The light was not very bright, so I overexposed the shot (+2 EV using aperture priority). For a masterpiece effect, I just used a shallow DoF (f/4) and converted it to B&W. Kinda subtle and simple though, so probably not artistic enough.
