2004 Marilee won a drawing as part of a contest by WMBD suppliers. A cameraman came to videotape the items for the TV station.

The etched glass panels on the light fixture cast confusing, darkening shadows on the plain walls revealed when the wallpaper was stripped off. My aging eyes really need a whole new fixture that lights the space up better, but for now the instant red ribbon shade in the pics of the redone space dressed things up and made it look new.

Cabinet Day! With a lot of sanding and sanding and more sanding I was able to get all the years of grease off and get these cabinets back.

Here it is with everything new: appliances, paint, flooring, cabinets, counter tops.

A note on the flooring: Ken turned me onto the fact that they make really nice looking vinyl plank flooring these days. In addition to being more affordable than hardwoods, they're easy to install AND waterproof, which I really like for a kitchen, bathroom, or basement.

Pulling off the paneling did create some surprises for us- and with surprises come ideas. Here is where the walls were looking thier worst (but better than paneling).
