Foods-eye view of the underneath of the grinder...This beast of an over-engineered kitchen gadget was VERY tricky to keep still while it on was on and grinding, to get the motion blur, but I got the shot I wanted in the end!
Shot for Macro Mondays "Contraptions" theme, HMM :)

This is a kitchen gadget which I have never used. I don't even know what you use it for! It was in a gift with a lot of other kitchen things.
One of my favorite "go to" kitchen tools! I love using lemon zest in many recipes and the plane also grates perfect chocolate for desserts!

This bottle cap owner was a gift from a friend who purchased it in Puerto Vallarta. It is approximately 3" long and fits comfortable in the palm of the hand and is a handy tool for popping off the tops of beer or pop bottles.

Many thanks for your visit, comments and faves. It is always appreciated.

This little shop has everything for the aspiring chef. But don't be fooled by the gadgetry, you still need to know how to boil water if you want to feed yourself.
Happy Slider's Sunday everyone.

An old fashioned, heavy duty, can opener, with jagged gears - for Macro Mondays theme; "Jagged".
Like most people I do have the latest seamless electric can opener, but you never know when the power might go out, and you hanker for a warm bowl of soup. This old fashioned gadget could come to the rescue.
HMM!

This is my big metal cheese grater. The reason it has a red reflection in it is I took this photo with my iPhone that is red. The little holes are on the other side of the grater.
... who knew just what would brighten these winter days for me. Thanks, JaneJHJ, for your friendship and for sending me one of my favourite things from Arizona. Creative packaging indeed!! I tried to make the background of this photo resemble the Arizona skies that JaneJHJ photographs so brilliantly.
Have a look at JaneJHJ's photostream. I know that you will be as dazzled as I am by her portrayal of the Arizona landscape.
NO GROUP INVITES, PLEASE!!! I very much appreciate your comments..
What a cool place! Brings back many memories! Check out all this cool stuff.
Did you find the hand mixer, the tea strainer, a grater, potato masher, long handled cup, a saw, a shoe repair thing and a spatchula? and some stuff i have no idea what they are!!!
The theme or challenge for MM this week was "contraption". I shot a couple of items and then had to decide which one to post. Since I chose another, this one was left behind. Rather than hit the delete button - I thought I'd add it to my photostream for anyone who might not have seen a "Spaetzel Noodle Maker." It is used to make a traditional dumpling or egg noodle, used in cuisines all across Europe. I might add that they are delicious, and are better than any noodle or dumpling that you can purchase in a box.
In this image you see just a two inch square corner of my noodle maker.
Preparing lunch. Featuring a mid century old style recipe box, an acorn salt cellar, and bamboo cutting board as kitchen tools. Mushrooms, onions, stewed tomatoes, grated cheese and whole grain spaghetti as ingredients.
This is one of those gadgets that's worth it's weight in gold. It does a great job of cracking open pecans. I had seen this sitting on the counter at a farm market atEastern Market in Detroit. Pecans are difficult to crack open without crushing the nut inside. I asked the cashier if the gadget was any good because this was the first that I ever saw such a thing. He said yes, I took his word and after using it once, I would pay twice as much for it!
Unfortunately, other than that this is manufactured by the Duke Company in West Pointe, MS., I have no information regarding the inventor.
Here is a bit about the DUKE Company:
Our company was originally established in 1938 as a local Pecan and Fur Skin merchant business which we still operate to this day. The company is in its third generation of family ownership led by T.A. Duke and Bill Duke. We began producing our line of traps during 1986 as a complementary business to our Fur Skin business and have expanded our product line over many years.
