I had to grab one of these up before they went off the shelves, which in Japan could mean a matter of days. For some reason, KitKat has paired up with Universal Studios Japan to "Make your dreams come true" ...I haven't been to the website, so I'm not sure what they mean by that, but in my case they'd have to get a lot of peanut butter and bouncy balls.
The KitKat itself seems to be a normal old (delicious) KitKat, but with an inexplicable slightly milky-colored zebra print. I don't know if it's a white chocolate mix, but if it is, it's not very strong.
So pretty packaging ends up with a standard fare prize. Go figure. But I think this is actually cheaper than a normal KitKat, so if you're stingy or drawn to sparkly things, scoop one of these up.
This is a picture of a special flavor of KitKat bars. Japan has many
different kinds of KitKats and in addition to the normal variety of special
flavors there are also special regional flavors. This is the flavor for
Chugoku and Shikoku. Hokkaido has a melon flavor and Nagoya has a red bean
sandwich flavor, just to name a few.
The people in this photo have joined Greenpeace's campaign to stop Nestle destroying the rainforests for palm oil and help protect endangered species like orang-utans - so can you.
Palm oil - one of the ingredients in products like KitKat - is devastating the rainforests of Indonesia as they're torn down to make room for huge oil palm plantations. In fact, these rainforests are being destroyed faster than any other in the world largely because of the demand for this oil, pushing threatened species like orang-utans even closer to extinction. This destruction also releases massive amounts of greenhouse gases which are accelerating climate change. Nestle the makers of KitKat, need to clean up their act and stop buying from companies which are destroying rainforests. make sure they see this photo by clicking 'send to a friend' below and sending it to Paul Bulcke, Nestle's CEO, at Paul.Bulcke@nestle.com, then find out what else you can do st www.greenpeace.org.uk/kitkat.
This was my second choice for June 22nd's photo.
There is an absurdly large variety of KitKat flavors in Japan. Here's one I found today: ramune flavored. (Ramune is a type of soda--tastes sort of like sprite.)
This morning I was given a gift from little Jayson and Justin. Being their favorite (according to mom), I was the only counselor who received anything. To explain why they gave me this...on the day after halloween for the last 2 years, knowing I like them and he doesn't, Justin gives me all of his KitKat bars from trick or treating the night before. (How do you not like KitKat??) What a thoughtful little gift. Thanks, boys. #kitkat #halloween #trickortreat #christmas #candy #kids #presents #merrychristmas #mug #mugs #cute #hershey
