Four night five day October forest wild camp.
Running with Kinder Morgan (KMTX) locomotives and hopper cars but with a PTRA crew, the PTRA coke train shuttles petroleum coke (a refining byproduct) from Lyondell Basell's Houston oil refinery to Kinder Morgan's Deepwater Terminal export facility, about 6 miles away. The crew first takes the loaded train from the refinery over to Deepwater, then jumps onto a second trainset that has already been unloaded for their return trip (a KM crew will unload the first train later to then return the following day).
Formerly an afternoon job, the on-duty time was moved back to 2359 a few years ago and the coke train rarely sees daylight these days. However, on this cool Christmas Eve the train is running a bit late. After dropping the loads at Deepwater, the empty train is seen here exiting the export facility here at Deer Park Jct for a short run on UP's Strang Sub.
Leading the train is KMTX 2022, a rebuilt SD45 painted for Kinder Morgan's 25th Anniversary and acquired by the company in 2022. The locomotive was built as SCL 2017 for the Seaboard Coast Line in October 1968.

The only kind of sunset that I don't like is the one that I missed.
A Stunning way to end a winters day at Victoria Point on Brisbane's bayside. I'm so glad I headed out because when I left home there was hardly a cloud in the sky! Goes to show that you need to be out there as sometimes when you least expect it Mother Nature surprises us.

Yesterday some parts of the Netherlands did get some thunderstorms. I was hoping for this kind of skies (this photo is from last year around this time), but no luck this time. The thunderstorms didn't come close in my area.

It didn't quite work out for yesterday's sunset. The wind was really strong on Kinder Scout. That meant I couldn't shoot from the top of the fall due to the river blowing back up. Even here I had to play peek-a-boo on the lens with a cloth. I'll keep trying for the shot I want.
One of the wonders of Granada is its sunset. You can’t talk about twilights in Granada without talking about the Mirador de San Nicolás. Located in the Albaicin, you’ll be able to see the Alhambra with the city of Granada below.
