As a child of the 70's growing up in California, we made a lot of God's Eyes and Tie-dye t-shirts! I used to love making these God's Eyes with popsicle sticks and weaving the yarn around them.
But more historically, the "Ojo de Dios" or God's Eye was an ancient symbol made by the Huichol Indians of Mexico and the Aymara Indians of Bolivia.
In Mexico, the central eye was made when a child was born. Each year, a bit of yarn was added until the child turned five at which point the Ojo was complete.
I've been out of commission thanks (or should I say no thanks) to a bug that took down our whole household. But I'm on the mend and looking forward to catching up on all of my Flickr Friends' photos I missed while I was sick this past week!
Macro Mondays Theme: Eye(s)
this was a totally fun project, in which I gathered things around the house that reminded me of Alaina, and glued and sewed everything on. She sat outside with her new canvas pointing to everything and talking about it. She even had Hope lay down next to her so that she could show the dog her newest artwork. I have it hanging in my craft room because I like the colors so much!
I used: piece of fake grass, buttons, flowers, a pocket, rhine stone, crayons, lace, fabric, cards, crazy straw, bubble wand, letter magnet, scrapbook tiles, the hearts are a flower that I cut every second petal, bird bead and HULA bottle cap from Hawaii, cocktail umbrella, stickers and a office note. All found around the house!

A little candlelight glow will not melt this snowman. He was created many, many years ago with loving care and by chubby little fingertips in Kindergarten, back in 1989.
