The Making of Believe - SeaWorld Orlando

10th April 2006

Gave up trying to make this one look realistic so went all sepia and textures instead :)

I thought this version was perfect www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOH_mioL3TU until I watched this Cola advert www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLPq8hUZiIU

What's in the box?

Finally a new cetacean photo is uploaded! All the issues with the files are now sorted, I only ended up losing about 100 out of many thousands due to them being corrupted. It sucks but such is life. You learn from your mistakes and so everything is now backed-up. Phew.

I still haved quite got the knack of shooting night shows. Any success tends to be a fluke (heh... pun... sort of...) rather than skill. I'm thinking on my next trip of trying out panning during these shows, which will probably go terribly but might be a bit of fun.

Anyway, I do love Ulises kickers, and was happy I was able to keep him all in the frame here, considering how close and large he was. It's by no means perfect, but I was pretty happy all the same.

Kicker Rock formation - Galapagos

Going for a subtle approach here. Just a simple background.

My model Sarah-Jane is shot against a neutral grey background and composited into the scene.

All backgrounds are themselves composites of various elements to create a 'hopefully' dramatic theatrical quality.

Eugene, OR - Luke Morrow

This weekend I had the opportunity to shoot an awesome longboarding event in Eugene, OR - The Boomtown Blacktail Slopestyle.

They busted out a HUGE kicker and a few souls were brave enough to take their longboards to it.

Check out PDX Downhill for complete story and a link to the whole slideshow.

Kicker Rock, Galapagos. This rock is just unbelievable huge. The photo was shot very early in the morning. You can see our cruise ship "Golondrina" and several smaller boats.

New Kickers in the box, but which ones?

Technician Mike Myers checks components of stochastic cooling "kickers," which generate electric fields to nudge ions in the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider's (RHIC) gold beams back into tightly packed bunches. This system of squeezing and cooling beams has produced dramatic increases in collision rates—and the data coming out of RHIC.

I've wanted some of these for years! :)
