Amazingly we actually got to see the transit in NYC. The sky literally opened up a small window in a toally occluded sky.

Quality of this is poor as it was shot with a Nikor 600mm/F4 with 1.7 externder..(1040mm effective) As a light reducer I cut a sheet of aluminum foil, placed it over the lens and peiced with a pencel creating a 3/16 inch aperature. Crude but almost effective, at roughly f200 it is a tad difraction limited. Anyway was glad to actually see the transit, was not looking foward to hanging around for another 105 years to see the next one.

taken after the water in lupin.... this flower had lost half its petals

Olympus digital camera

In order to take a nice rooftop photo, I went to several places many times during my stay in Lijiang, both during the day and at night. I found this place with the help of the owner of the inn I stayed. While most of the places which can enjoy the rooftop view are owned by an inn or a bar, this is a free with open view area just in front of the Wen Chang Gong (文昌宫). There are even benches you can sit on while waiting (or day dreaming as people often said in Lijiang). For this one I took it just before sunset. I had stayed there for a couple of hours to wait for the perfect light to come. When it is before sunset, the sky was not so dark but the city lights are on already. When it gets too dark, there is an annoying torch light about 5 yards from me which is so bright that it puts white casting to the pictures. There is another rooftop photo on my flickr that were taken during the day in Mufu (木府).

La Raya Keywords

The La Raya mountain range is situated in the Andes of Peru.

The highest point on the road from Puno to Cusco. Awesome scenery. This was a great stop on our way to Puno. Highest elevation I have ever been at.

Sillustani is a pre-Incan cemetery on the shores of Lake Umayo near Puno in Peru. The tombs, which are built above ground in tower-like structures called chullpas, are the vestiges of the Qulla people, who are Aymara conquered by the Inca Empire in the 15th century.

Puno is a city in southeastern Peru, located on the shore of Lake Titicaca. It is the capital city of the Puno Region and the Puno Province with a population of approximately 140,839.
