The hub, the heart of the vast Allegheny National Forest wonderland in northwestern Pennsylvania

I found a large puddle of water in the middle of the trail and I was amazed to find hundreds of these tiny little oyster-like creatures. These were swimming around like little clams. I had no idea they could live in these conditions. I have no idea how they got up here and in this puddle.

Under the highway, there is also another border monument that I first mistook for the Tri-States Monument. This one is only for the New Jersey, New York border. This monument also resembles the one I came across last weekend while hiking in the northern section of the NJ Palisades.

In the distance, the now abandoned Delaware Viaduct crosses the Delaware River between New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
