First Appearance - Justice League of America #41 (December 1965)

The Key was originally a chemist with Intergang, he develops mind-expanding "psycho-chemicals" that help activate his senses and allow him to plan crimes mere humans can never hope to understand. Being an enemy of the Justice League as a whole, Batman is his primary enemy. In one of his most famous encounters with the Dark Knight he tries to provoke Batman into murdering him so he could escape life itself, but the plan proves unsuccessful.

Florida Keys Key West

After the US Navy opened a base in Key West, Florida in 1823 it became apparent that the need for a lighthouse be built due to the fact that the waters surrounding the Florida keys were very shallow and reef laden. The lighthouse was opened in 1848 with a woman lighthouse keeper. Over the years upgrades were needed. A new Third Order Fresnel lens was installed. The Keepers quarters was built and finally electricity was connected. In 1969, the US Coast Guard decommissioned the light due to modern technology and today it is a museum.
